GOP gov pushes back on Trump plan to send migrants to Florida counties

"ALL of them"? Hardly.

A thousand each month out of over a HUNDRED thousand coming across the border each month is a drop in the bucket.

And sorry...you don't get any extra money for taking them. You don't need the extra money. Just spend your own money wisely and raise taxes. That's what Democrats do...right?

Wasn't talking about "extra" money. Just keeping more of what California makes in California. Like keeping more of what we make as individuals.

You guys like that, right?

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Friday pushed back on the Trump administration's plan to send hundreds of undocumented immigrants to two of the state's southern counties.

DeSantis, an ally of President Trump, called the administration's plan "not acceptable" and told reporters that it might not go into effect, according to NBC News.

"I'm going to be addressing this," he said. "This is not something that came down from the White House. This was something that came out of the agencies."

About 1,000 immigrants will be sent to Palm Beach and Broward County each month for detainment. Governor Rick DeSantis isn't too pleased.

Trump's looking for more cheap labour for Mar-a-Lago?

That thought occurred to me! :2razz:

But seriously, transporting asylum seekers to the interior of the country for the majority to disappear, is a ridiculous idea. The little research I've done, is showing the majority of asylum seekers do not prevail in their attempt at legality. So Trump is essentially injecting eventual undocumented aliens into the fabric of society.

He's not the only one. California has been buying homeless people one way bus tickets to Midwestern cities.

Impractical? It gives the communities that want them or the ones that don't an awareness that there is now a need in their community.

Politically motivated? Yes of course. Because we on the right don't feel they should be here at all.

++ If the population is Mexicans migrating for economic reasons, you may be correct. Those numbers have been down in recent years, tho there has been an uptick recently. If they are Central Americans seeking asylum, they have a right under US and treaty law to have their claims considered fairly. (Trump is trying to change precedent to make that impossible.) The “right”, especially in Florida, believes in considering this in the case of Cubans enthusiastically. Trump wouldnt dare move Cuban asylum seekers to New Mexico. It’s the law that they all have the right to seek protection, and remember that Trump proclaimed himself the “law and order” president. Man up, Donald.

Unjust? The only people it is unjust to is the Americans that are having illegals with no means of support dropped off in their community without consulting them first.

++ Don’t understand. I assume the plan is to have them detained there.

No relation to the problem? It is exactly the problem. There are to many to vet and house...it is indeed a CRISIS.

++ Its a crisis if Trump makes it one. There are not too many to vet. Happens all the time in other parts of the world. Provide the resources to screen and reject or accept asylum seekers efficiently, and people with frivolous claims will get the message. Yes, there is a crisis in Central America, one the US has some (by no means all) responsibility for. A grown-up would recognize this and create policies to deal with it. But it’s easier to say that stuff like “there are Middle Easterners in the caravan,” with no proof. Spreading fear is easier than spreading knowledge. “Make America Hate Again” is the Trump theme.

Being triggered to the point of name calling does little to nothing to support your comments.

Raise your game.

++ Will consider doing so when Trump does, stops calling people names and lying. Til then, suffice to say that he is an example of the “Equine Paradox.” That is the phenomenon that while at any point in time there is a fixed number of horses in the world, there is strangely a greater number of horses’ asses.

There. “Horses ass” is softer than “asshole.”

My game is officially raised.

Why do you think there is now a surge of asylum seekers? Because of Trump's rhetoric and how it is being used in Central America. The "handlers" who profit from the caravans are telling everyone that they must hurry before Trump's wall is built. This what happens when we have a psychopath as President. They create the problems that only they can fix. You are being conned. He probably needs more workers for his Florida clubs and these migrant families make perfect low cost laborers. There is a whole town in Costa Rica built with money that illegals made at Trumps properties too.

On Friday, Trump again threatened to close the U.S.-Mexico border as soon as next week, unless Mexico takes steps to stop the flow of U.S.-bound migrants traveling through its country.

But that threat, which Trump has made in the past, along with other recent policies aimed at deterring migrants from coming, are having the reverse effect, analysts say. It signals to migrants thinking of making the trip that now is the time to come — before the door closes.

Why are so many migrants suddenly arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border?

Well, thank you. I'm sure much is indeed debatable, and I suspect you could do a pretty good job!

You know, if he just did E-Verify, I'd have more faith in him. All it takes is a simple E.O., to prove to me he's serious. E-Verify, and legit penalties against his big-business buddies. That would go a long way to getting me onboard with his immigration policies. I have no problem with a wall, if it's truly warranted. Hell, Obama built over 600 miles of wall!

I thought of your statement when I read this article all be it from Breitbart. If you would like I can try to find another source for it, but I wanted to point it out and get your thoughts since it is something we just discussed.

Actually TheDeplorable, I though of you and our conversation when I read the same article when it came-out the next day after we posted.

Yeah, it's an interesting development, and I hope it gets implemented. I'm going to research this a bit, as I'm cautious with Breitbart.

But as an aside, after Trump got caught hiring and promoting illegals at his golf courses, he recently implemented mandatory E-Verify for his org. Well, at least in N.J. that I'm aware, and perhaps elsewhere though I'm not aware. Maybe he just said, "Screw it. I'm going to implement it for everyone then".

Pretty typical Miller move i bet. The dude has had a hate boner for latino/as since high school.

That's pretty damn ridiculous, and a perfect example that we've got to get comprehensive immigration reform done. Ain't gonna' happen under Trump. He couldn't cut a deal, if his life depended upon it. Two & a half years and counting ...

I dunno; he offered a pretty good deal the Democrats refused.

The problem is when it comes down to who actually cuts the grass I am sure Trump is clueless. I worked for KFC but never met the CEO. Trump has a manager that manages all his different operation. There is not enough time in a day for Trump to run around hiring the people cutting the grass.

In the construction business it is even worse. Trump hires a general contractor. The general contractor hires my plumbing company. I hire the workers that do the plumbing. There is no way Trump knows if I paid cash one day for some illegals to carry pipe to where my plumbers needs it. I have seen sheet rockers hire illegals to carry all the sheetrock up to the rooms. They are paid cash and the general contractor has no clue unless he happens to show up that day on the cite. Trump would never know. He hires an architect and a general contractor and that is probably as far down the ladder as he goes unless there is a major problem.

Just about every major construction site I have worked on someone is paying cash for illegal labor to get around paying a US citizen even minimum wage. We have US citizens sitting at the labor pool waiting for work while illegals are doing the work for less than minimum wage and no taxes. Oh and the democrats are looking out for the hard working citizen. In your dreams

Actually Trump has the right idea. You nip the problem in the butt before they enter our country. The wall and border security is step 1. Enforce our laws is step 2. Processing and/or removing everyone here illegally on an individual basis is step 3. The quicker the people coming here realize they are not going to circumvent our immigration laws the sooner this problem will end.

What's that? The Dems offered the Wall for DACA; he backed out. It never got done.

Yes, I agree. But none of this can get done without legislation addressing the current legal conflicts. Busing asylum seekers around to the interior of your country is not the solution. The process needs to be fixed.

Trump has an idea, but he's not he's not solving anything. We all have ideas.

Because the money was never guaranteed. As I recall it was reported that the way it was written, funding could be pulled or unfunded at any point. Do you doubt that he would take the guaranteed money now? Why then but not now, because it was never a real offer.

It was my understanding that Trump agreed, but later Miller et al balked at Trump for not including his other two "pillars".

If it was simply funds needing authorization, Trump should have finessed the deal through. He has the bully-pulpit, and claims he has the negotiation skills. Instead, he seems to prefer the "total fight & destruction" method of deal-making. We'll see if it works, but we're already 2-/2 years in - and counting - so I'm not optimistic. It hasn't worked with China, Mexico, NK, Canada, NAFTA, Congress, or anywhere else yet, so we'll have to see if he can change his luck.

They pay sales tax and get no benefits.

My biggest problem with Trump though, is he walked away from the opportunity to lead the way for a long needed comprehensive immigration deal. We need a secure border. We need the DACA kids taken care of. And we need reform of the immigration laws, through legislation. We all agree on this.

The Dems offered a DACA-for-Wall, deal. It could have helped us all. Trump agreed, then reneged. And a golden opportunity was lost. He then shut-down the government, had a war with Pelosi, and lost any chance for substantive legislative/Congressional solutions for the rest of his term.

I don't like Trump. But he had the chance to lead and do a great thing. And I would have admired that. But he let the opportunity slip through his fingers, and now we have no wall (unsecured border), and no DACA fix. Just more fighting amongst ourselves, more divided than ever, with nothing positive getting done.

Essentially this. There are many proposals that get more bipartisan support but holding the government hostage to get what Trump wants is just what he does. He wont listen to anybody.

As long as the rich and powerful want that cheap labor to keep cost down and to use them to keep wages down the bought and paid for party puppets in congress will never work with Trump to solve the problem. that is more than obvious. Plus they are using their media to make ridiculous claims like walls don't work and doing nothing is the solution that only idiots would believe is the answer.

What's your point? You mean they don't use our infrastructure. Really. They don't walk down our sidewalks or drive down on our roads. You think it is good that they circumvent our income taxes putting a larger burden on citizens. When they go to the hospital who pays. Not them. We do in higher cost. They are not the solution but the problem. Legal immigrants made this country great. These lawless losers are destroying our country right before our eyes. They are undermining everything the legal immigrants accomplished for the hard working people of this country.

Ummm nothing was said approval or otherwise in that post. Just a correction

The fact is simple. They get more than they ever pay in. Just look what they have done to their own countries. Just what we need.

Nobody wants these illegal aliens in their communities, yet nobody wants to do anything to stop them from coming to the US.

That's not the point. The point is Trump can't abuse his power, which is what sending illegal immigrants to various communities, is, he's doing it because he's got a big ego and it's tit for tat, it's absurd, and testament to Trumps incompetence.
