Gold Star Families Set to Show "War is a Racket", Corporations Pay Taliban

Gee, so fighting Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan was a “racket”? Sure that’s the argument you want to go with?

No, WWII was a legit war. And that war ended fairly quickly. Too quickly, for some. War profiteers have been looking ever since for the "War without End" and it appears that the "Global War on Terrorism[SUP]TM[/SUP]" just fits the bill. There is no end, no draftees, just constant deployments around the world.

Money to be made, baby!

The title is not "The War in Afghanistan is a Racket." It was "War is a Racket," which refers to the booklet written by Marine Corps veteran and noted conspiracy theorist Smedley Butler. A pretty categorical statement in my estimation.

Maybe. Reply to the post. Not the title.

Yes, I am supportive of helping African nations fight against terrorist thugs who machine gun little kids.

Once I graduate from school. I was going to go in before college but every marine I talked to said to go to college first.

I hope you do. There is a lot of evil in the world. That you want to make things right is a credit to you. The sad truth is that we can't just go in and fix things that are wrong. It never works. Just like in Afghanistan. Just like in Iraq, where they just told us to get out. People need to fix things for themselves. We can help, sometimes, if we're lucky, but they have to do it for themselves. They have to stand up for themselves. The fathers and mothers and brothers and those little girls in Afghanistan have to stand up and say, "ENOUGH"!

That being your criteria, when are we invading Darfur?

Considering that Bashir got bounced out of power and things seem to be shakily improving, we may not have to anymore.

But I would have absolutely supported a campaign to toss that thug out of power and put a stop to the genocide he was committing.

I meant the way they treat women.

And no hope of regaining power... We all know without US backing the Afghan Government could very well collapse quickly, it's forces are poorly motivated, lead and everyone in charge is corrupt, of course there's hope they can regain power, who are you kidding?

The Taliban certainly hope they can regain power. Whether they actually can.....is doubtful.

The government in Afghanistan is still a work in progress, but there are promising signs. If building a democracy was easy everyone would be one today.

What Afghanistan needs is an honest reconstruction program which employs the millions of men looking for work who go to the Taliban because they are always hiring...with US money. There are Afghan organizations doing great work but that's not who gets the contracts.
