I'm about 5 weeks off before I can put tomato plants outside.

Absolutely, always do. I've had very good luck using these, makes it easier to wheel them into the garage when those early (think Labor Day) fall frosts come. I've had pretty good luck with early variety tomatoes and usually have a pile of green ones I can pick at the end of season and let ripen indoors.
