Seems that John Kelly reacquired his moral compass (and spine) since leaving the White House. In a recent interview while visiting Duke University, the former Trump Chief of Staff spoke on several issues.
He reportedly said that his tenure as COS was “the least enjoyable job” he’d ever had, and that had Clinton won and asked him to be
her COS he likely would have said “yes”.
As for the wall, he also reiterated his position that a border wall spanning the entire U.S.-Mexico border would be a “waste of money”, and said, in direct conflict with his former boss about migrants, “They’re overwhelmingly not criminals”, “they’re people coming up here for economic purposes. I don’t blame them for that.”
Additionally, he defended NATO, and shared his parting words to the incoming acting COS, Mick Mulvaney, “run for it.”
