Gen Kelly say’s full wall would be a waste of money and more .....

My problem with Trump and Republicans is that they don't propose such solutions. Instead, they demonize illegal immigrants purely for political purposes. It's disgusting.

Yep, they take great pains to avoid causing "job creators" to lose out on a cheap labor source which can't complain about unsafe/unsanitary working conditions.

One would hope that murderers, rapists and MS-13 would only have the option to enter illegally. The fact that only a small percentage of folks entering illegally are much more dangerous than the rest is no reason to not secure the border. Only a teeny tiny percentage of folks visiting our airports mean us any harm - should we get rid of the federal airport nannies and relax airport security?

The airport nannies don't catch people testing their ability to catch people very often.

Its "security theater".

Like the wall.

Seems that John Kelly reacquired his moral compass (and spine) since leaving the White House. In a recent interview while visiting Duke University, the former Trump Chief of Staff spoke on several issues.

He reportedly said that his tenure as COS was “the least enjoyable job” he’d ever had, and that had Clinton won and asked him to be her COS he likely would have said “yes”.

As for the wall, he also reiterated his position that a border wall spanning the entire U.S.-Mexico border would be a “waste of money”, and said, in direct conflict with his former boss about migrants, “They’re overwhelmingly not criminals”, “they’re people coming up here for economic purposes. I don’t blame them for that.”

Additionally, he defended NATO, and shared his parting words to the incoming acting COS, Mick Mulvaney, “run for it.”

Too bad the General wasn’t more forthcoming with his thoughts sooner.

They may not have criminal intent, but they are criminals. When they find illegal employment, they take away low wage jobs out people could have, adding to the social burden. When they have anchor babies, they drain the social coffers more yet. I understand them wanting a better life, but we cannot afford to let them keep coming in. Until we take care of our own first, they can wait in line like any other legal immigrant to this nation.

That said.

I agree the wall is a waste of money. Instead, we need to make it nearly impossible for any illegal immigrant from benefiting by coming over here. We need to penalize employers of illegal immigrants so harsh, they will not do so. We need to stop allowing anchor babies. We don't need a wall. We just need to create a condition, they will self deport.

Just to keep things in perspective, illegal immigrants are criminals solely because they have violated our immigration laws, not because they have harmed or even threatened anyone. For first time crossings (the overwhelming majority), it is a civil misdemeanor, not a felonious crime.

As for illegals taking jobs away from Americans, there is little information that supports the belief, at least not in large numbers. For the most part, a straw man argument.

And only a Constitutional change, which has virtually no chance of happening, would eliminate the so-called “anchor baby” argument.

It also worth noting that illegal immigrants contribute about $12B in federal taxes each year. Much more if state and sales taxes are included. But you are likely correct in asserting that they take out more in benefits than they contribute. I’ve seen numbers that exceed their contributions by as much as twice the estimated $12B.

I do completely agree with you that we should make finding/keeping employment in the U.S. as difficult as possible for illegals, by heavily fining employers who knowingly hire them. As has already been brought up, mandatory nationwide use of E-Verify would be a good first step.

You claimed that he wanted a wall covering the entire border. Your link doesn't support your fabrications.
The only fabricating being done is by you. Where did I say that Trump wanted a wall covering the entire border?

Lying or a comprehension failure on your part.

Post #6;
I see, you're one of those posters that gets caught in a lie and tries to change history. I have no time for you.

Creating fear of the "others" Yeah I hate it too.

Thank you. So much is not talked about with this issue - these people are just demonized.
Laura Ingram is quoted as saying "If they want to apply for asylum, then let them apply from the safety of their own country". Uh.......that's the point of claiming asylum???
