TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Democrat Sharice Davids of Kansas added her name Wednesday to her party’s increasingly diverse slate of candidates advancing to the November ballot.

Davids, who would be the first gay, Native American elected to Congress, narrowly won a six-way primary in her eastern Kansas district, shattering the mold for a congressional primary winner in conservative Kansas and embodying the range of ethnicities and sexual orientations of Democratic candidates running throughout the country this fall.

I wish her the best of luck. We need more women in the predominantly male Congress.

First homosexual, first Native American, or both? Why don't we wait for the results first.

Gender nor race have anything to do with her competency as a individual candidate. Hopefully she didn't didn't run on such things.... and hopefully you are the only person that would prize someone as a candidate for such trivial things such as race, gender, or sexual preference..... but I know full well the hope has any kind of expectation of being true xD

Been there done that. :2razz:

Our last congressional race we had a gay, native american, woman. Prior to that she had been elected as our state superintendent of public schools. Unfortunately she got beat by Ryan Zinke in the general election before he got placed as the sec of the interior by Trump. Then we elected a rich out of stater who likes to beat up on reporters to fill the rest of Zinke's term.

Hopefully Ms Davids will have a better outcome.
