They can report them. I would in a heartbeat. If the criminals are discovered, the whole group could be denied asylum. The person who reports them could move up the list for asylum consideration.
There is no guarantee that anyone in the group is going to be granted asylum. Those who apply are going to be subjected to background checks. They have to trudge across the Mexican desert for weeks and then camp at the border waiting to be let in. These are not career criminals. They are desperate people looking to legally apply for asylum. Anyone who does not intend to enter the US legally is NOT in this caravan.
First, who would the people report them to, and second, how long do you think their life span would be in that situation?
