GA Town Requires Gun Ownership: 'Something for a Potential Criminal to Think About' | Fox News Insider

As the gun control debate rages on, one Georgia town has a local law mandating that “every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm.”

The law was enacted in Kennesaw, Georgia -- a town of about 33,000 people 25 miles northwest of Atlanta -- in 1982, and the community has historically had a low rate of violent crime.

It's also never been enforced that I know if, it would never survive a court challenge, but that's ok.

Suppose someone sues againist that Law for violating their rights?

you can only sue if they actually take action to enforce the ordinance, which has never happened.

I guess my questions would be:

1] Does the city buy you a gun, if you're broke?
2] If there's a gun accident within a household that claims they otherwise wouldn't own a gun, do the citizens involved have recourse to sue the city?

Alright, hang on:

(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.

It seems toothless.

You can be a C.O., and walk around it.

It used to be common in the West for banks to give you a gun of some type if you opened an account.
