I am not defending them--I am taking issue at posts that are stupid or silly
Do you think that what they did was racist?

then simply call it an act of racism, and leave the far less pejorative term of stupidity out of it. These racists knew exactly what they were doing.
According to ABCNews, the last lynching in Mississippi happened 40 years ago.
And some insist racism is dead in America
Yeah, and?
Do you think that what they did was racist?
Racism is alive and well in America. Just look at all of the recent "knock out game" attacks against Whites, Asians and Jews in New York City to know that there is plenty of racism in this country.
Racism does not depend on the intent. Ever. Racism depends on the act.
Ahh, the standard Far Right refrain of 'the only racism that exists in this country is black people picking on us poor white folks!':lamo
Because the evidence indicates that they thought it would be funny and wouldn't hurt anyone or anything. If they wanted to be racially malicious, they would have spray painted the N-word on a wall or the statue. The act itself was one of stupidity, but it was just a prank, regardless of racial overtones.
Not gonna repeat myself any more so, I'm done here.
Neither do you.
I dont think you can really say placing something ON the stature (draping the items over the statue) qualifies as 'vandalism'. However...even if their intent was joking, it was a racist act (one might tell a racist joke because they were being careless and stupid, not necessarily because they were racist). As such...actions have consequences. So...good on the charter for kicking them out. Maybe the lesson will sink in before they do something more foolish and maybe cause someone some actual harm.I don't care what their intend was. They vandalized a school statue and that is never right.
How do you know?

What a load of crap. So if a guy says, "boy I tell ya..." to a black man, that's racism - even if he has no idea that you're not supposed to say "boy" to a black man.
In your effort to be some sort of bogus contrarian, you come off looking foolish.

I bet it's a relief knowing that this topic of discussion will never, ever lead to any kind of actions that could possibly threaten your superiority as a white person.
Inb4 you ask me how I know you're white--because hey, there is a very slight chance that you're not.
Whatever. Either you're trying to play devil's advocate or you hate what you see in the mirror everyday. Pick one.
You're not the first one with Vanilla Ice syndrome. You won't be the last.
Man oh man oh man. There are fewer things in life more reliable than the emotional fragility of white people when their white privilege is called out. Apsdt, you think I'm black?! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, learn to read.
For the few of you who are actually willing and able to do this thing called LISTEN, here is a nice summary of what it means to be a white person (and a straight male one at that). Dear racism deniers: It is physically impossible for you to raise any objections that that author did not address in his follow-up threads. But some of you will try. And, like the butthurt commentors, you too will fail miserably.
I think I'm just gonna sit back for the next round of posts and munch on popcorn. This ought to be quite entertaining.
Reading your posts for the last few years. You don't have a clue about black people other than what you've read or somebody told you. You fool nobody.

All black folks think alike? No exceptions?
Show me exactly where I even suggested that.
I "act white"?
You et. al. are questioning my authenticity, because I don't think like you think a black dude should think.
I would like to know where you get off believing that all of us fir neatly into this PC cookie cutter mold you've created.
