Former Mayor of Baltimore indicted for tax fraud

In the last 50 years, how many Baltimore mayors were not criminals? I haven't paid that much attention but there seems to be a bit of a drum beat.

wasn't Pelosi's father part of the Baltimore Democrat crime machine? IIRC both her father and brother were Mayors of Baltimore

Yeah, well, our justice system doesn't actually do that.

sure beats wasting our tax dollars putting her in a jail cell.

No it doesn't. The rich deserve to be punished for crimes too. Otherwise they'll just keep committing them.

Fines are just a cost of business to the very wealthy. Fines alone can never be a deterrent when the behavior results in more profit than the fine.

the purpose of jail is to prevent people who physically harm others from having contact with innocents they may hurt. Tax cheats are malum prohibitum criminals and should be fined. I get those who have a soft spot for violent criminals while having a hard on for the rich want to put the rich in prison. Its a waste of tax dollars and it is a stupid expression of class warfare.

Ahh, so decriminalize all nonviolent crimes, then? Or just ones that apply to the rich?

Class warfare, he says, while literally wanting rich people to be free to commit crimes.

you hurt someone physically or ruin their life (like burning down their home) go to jail. You defraud the government-you get fined.

I don't know if I agree with that-I think jail should be for violent criminals. For tax cheats-just fine her what she owes plus a big hunk of change on top of that

I think we could greatly reduce the existing prison population by hammering most non violent offenders with financial penalties and community service, and reserving prison for those that pose a physical threat to public safety.

some crimes-like assholes who throw bricks off bridges and damage cars (now if they harm someone they should get mucho time in the hole) are best dealt with by public caning IMHO

You didn't answer the question. Should nobody be imprisoned for any nonviolent crime?

It would take some massive harm for me to support jailing someone for a non-violent crime.

Rich guy ruins thousands of lives via bank fraud, gets fined ten percent of the profit.

Teenager breaks a windshield, beat them bloody!! :lamo

Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh Federally Indicted On 11 Counts

Remember-both parties have corrupt office holders

Baltimore, MD – Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has been federally indicted on 11 counts involving the “Healthy Holly” children’s books she authored.Pugh, a 69-year-old Democrat, was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, two counts of tax evasion, and seven counts of wire fraud on Nov. 13, WBAL reported.

Very true

Lots of dirt, lots of tax cheats. Would you support Trump fufilling his promises to release his returns?

When Obama gives us his transcripts at Occidental and Columbia

It seems to be a requirement.

Remember-both parties have corrupt office holdersy.

The old "Both sides" argument. In the real world, we care about relative corruption, and its clear which party relishes corruption:

But but, both sides.

Corruption in government is always bad, glad they were busted. Of course, when a POTUS is bad, they do a lot more harm. Enjoy.

I dont recall Obama making multiple promises to the electorate to release those transcripts, by the way, were are Trumps transcripts?

I couldn't care less about that.

You all are still upset he won, so you hope to find some more stuff to whine about. This thread is not about the butt hurt over Trump winning over Hillary.

This is not about your hate for the GOP. What harm have you suffered from Trump?

I couldn't care less about that.

Oh we know what you care about, to the point of making excuses for the Toddler in Chief on a daily basis.

I do hope your not so partisan as to attack the next Dem nominee who fails to release there tax returns. I fully expect you will jump to the nominees defense for privacy as you do with Rump.

Whaaa whaa you all got TDS!!

Its a lame tag line so as not to address Rumps lack of integrity. Your low leadership standards have been noted, AGAIN !!
