Ford vs Chevy

The current F150 has an aluminum body on a steel frame but they have dealt with the issue of galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar materials. It's biggest problem is that even small collision can total the truck because the alunimun cannot be repaired.

I have always leaned Ford, but I like the classics from both.

If one believes an employee's actions or words harms the company's image, buh bye. I see absolutely no obligation for an organization or business to suffer indignation at the hands of a member.

And I got a big middle finger for every single politician.

So a Republican company owner could fire every employee who voted Democrat in your opinion.

And you think your kind of country would still have free and fair elections ?

If the owner believes an employee being a Democrat is bad for the company's image, that's their call. Political party or ideology are not protected classes.

Businesses and organizations are free to let anyone go for behavior unbecoming the organization. People get fired for cursing, flipping the bird, mooning, leaving poop on the floor... You name it, people have been fired for it. Our democracy still works.

What if that boss just doesn't like Democrats and to justify his firing of them, he claims that they're bad for business ?

...businesses and organizations are free to let anyone go for behavior unbecoming the organization....

Who is to say what that is. The employer or a court of law ?

Would US democracy not work better if people weren't scared of voting for the wrong party ?

Why is voting secret ?

Does that go for the Ranger too ?

The company I worked for bought Ford F-150's but I heard from a lot of the techs that the Toyota Tundra was a more powerful and reliable truck.

I don't know much about the Ranger. I saw my first one in the parking lot of a grocery store a few weeks ago.

I only know what I read in the engineering press about the many problems Ford had with the aluminum structure and that many commercial buyers don't like the idea that it is much harder to repair, from even minor dings.

The Tundra is likely more reliable, now that they fixed the frame issue.

The techs all said they'd go for a Tundra, but the actual contractors by and large drove a Tacoma.

Ford sell a lot of F series (and E series vans) through fleet deal - may the majority of them. Do you have a truck ?

Is it the appearance that defines it as a mustang? Or what's inside? What if you don't know what's inside? Then appearance defines it, yes? And upon learning what's inside, does it then stop being a mustang?

In NASCAR, it's the engine.

If you put a Chevy engine in a mustang, it is no longer Found on Road Dead.

No, I drive a subcompact.

The Ranger has a steel body, (on frame). It is based on an international design (Aussie/Thailand) and given some updates for the US market.

The interior quality of the Ranger is on the low side, the engine is currently the most powerful in the midsize truck market (would not trust it to last as long as the engine in the Tacoma however)

The Ford 3.5 L TT V6 is the most powerful engine in any full size truck, (GM, Ram, Toyota and Nissan) (outside of heavy duty diesels). I would expect the Tundra to be on the road for far longer than the equivalent Ford F150, but it is not more powerful than some of the F150 engine choices

I did some checking and there's some astonishing figures out there:

"2019 Ford Super Duty F-250
450 hp | 935 lb-ft of torque

It makes sense that the two-way tie for most horsepower in a pickup truck should go to the best-selling vehicle in the U.S...the available 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel V8 delivers 450 horsepower and a gigantic 935 pound-feet of torque. Get ready because, when properly equipped, this Ford truck can tow up to 21,000 pounds. This gives the Super Duty the edge over all competitors when it comes to class-leading towing capacity...
"

V8 is my favorite engine.

The 2.7 L turbo in the F150 provides very good gas mileage and is about as powerful as the 5.3 L V8 in the chevy (faster than the 2018, not sure about 2019)
Of course the sound is weak compared to the V8 of GM or Ram

I wonder if trucks are like AWD SUVs and never go off road - we have two AWD SUV's and they never go off road but they're very comforting in bad weather, especially snow.

My ex boss had a GMC full sized truck that never had a speck of dirt on it and never had anything in it other than him.

For casual truck use, like hauling your dogs to the vet or a dog wash place, a Tacoma looks the best option.

Though I'm quite excited about the new Land Rover Defender 90.

Sort of that distant second to F-150's that Phil Michelson was to Tiger Woods.

Usually in your posts you create interesting dialogue. This ford thing has become your weakest points.

Few years ago there were all kinds of fords in the school bus industry. School systems are finally wising up.

Ford's quality control has improved...but I still wouldn't buy one.

Not again, and I've had three.

How about a Nissan Skyline tuned to the max ?

It couldn't outperform the instantaneous torque of an electric car - at least not in a 1/4-mile race. Anything over that, yes...
