Food stamp cuts. Get a job, you sack of crap freeloader.

I don't support starving anyone or ruining anyone's farm business badly enough that they need a bigger taxpayer funded bailout than GM. That's Republican policy, not mine.

GM's problems were their own fault. The trade war is not the farmer's fault.

It's a balancing act, for sure. For sure there are those who abuse the system and I think we always turn to those examples when we're looking to limit or cutoff benefits. But there are those who are truly in a tough spot, who have done the right things, and ended up on the wrong side. We don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. I just don't trust Trump to take the time and research necessary to understand where the balance point may be.

Well, to be honest, that's the problem with any big government and most Democrats want bigger government.

I believe the current scam involves not working, collecting every benefit you can lie your way into, then selling drugs on the side. It's quite lucrative.
That's why we see ETB cards being used at Vegas casinos.

And if you lost your job, your home and your savings tomorrow, you shouldn't receive any support at all?

The article says that able-bodied claimants can only receive food stamps for three-months, which sounds like a reasonable period to support someone while they're seeking work or training. That sounds like the literal safety net rather than freeloading.

No reason to read the article and destroy a good rant.

Says the party who up front says they want to spend 93 trillion dollars on the Green New Deal (just to start), have MFA, forgive student loan debt, offer free college, pay reparations to slave descendants/native Americans/illegal immigrants, and want to spend trillions of dollars on infrastructure.

Hey, I am not a party get a grip...What is wrong with the govt. helping out the lower classes they do it all the time for the upper classes and historically the poor have always had governmental intervention to help out the economy....Did you bitch about the Homestead Act also?

We could be simplifying Government through simplification of our own laws. Equal protection of the laws is all that is necessary to improve our economy in a market friendly.

Because it limits payments too much and also impacts those that cannot work.
Always find it interesting that when talking about making spending cuts each has their favorite programs to go after while ignoring their own over spending. Until some actually talks about reviewing all spending and doing the needed adjustments we will never really change anything.

It doesn't effect those who truly can't work. There are jobs almost everywhere in this country for the able bodied.

The solution is simple.

Cut corporate welfare, and there will be plenty of money available for other things.

And the welfare corps receive is obscene. I remember reading in the early 90's that if the meat industry wasn't subsidized, a Big Mac would cost $6.

I would love to see a study that compares the ratio of each corp welfare dollar to the number of permanent full time living wage jobs created. I bet the ratio would be very small...

But I'm sure some of the corporate welfare is earmarked for stock buy-backs...

Cut corporate welfare and you cut jobs.

You would be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time...EBT cards with cash is from the Aid to Families of Dependent Children not associated with food stamps.
Yet, I can assume you don't go to Vegas casinos..

It is one market based reason for a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage. Social services cost the equivalent to fourteen dollars an hour.

The government should not be helping bums who don't want to work and only want to mooch off everyone else. Now if they legitimately can't work, that's another thing but this change only puts a work requirement on the able bodied and there are jobs everywhere.

You have evidently not worked or lived in the rural areas.

You only ignore the law when the Poor may benefit? Employment is at the will of either party not just an employer for benefits.

But I'm right about Vegas. My hard earned tax dollars going to some loser to play penny slots and maybe spurge on a hooker.
Gotta love it.

Well, to be honest, that's the problem with any big government and most Democrats want bigger government.

Most Republicans want bigger government as well. The GOP has held the government enough times to have decreased its size and scope, but has grown it instead. The biggest jumps in deficit seem to happen under Republican leadership. So this whole "Democrats want bigger government" is just a partisan ploy because Republicans grow the government as well. The Republocrat Oligarchy is not a supporter of smaller government.

lol. nothing but stereotypes? All that corporate welfare spent on the Richest and they won't get into Heaven. What a "waste of money".

Per Federal Law, TANF cash EBT benefits cannot be accessed from ATM machines or used to purchase items in the following locations: casinos, gaming establishments, liquor stores, or establishments which provide adult entertainment.
https://dwss.nv.gov/uploadedFiles/d...res/Forms/2321-EGB_EBT_Card_Issuance_Auth.pdf

If a casino did process the ATM they would risk being fined or losing their license.

Now tell me another story...

A vast majority of the slot machine games in Las Vegas are classed as penny slots these days. The modern definition of a penny slot is any game where you can play 1 cent per line. The fact is, though, that most of these games have a minimum number of lines that you have to play per spin, usually between 20 and 60

Republicans have done an amazing job of convincing their base that the cause of our economic woes are others abusing the system when in most cases they are just poor people with families trying to scrape by and bringing on a few hundred a month in benefits. It keeps them from looking at the real villains in this whole mess, the ultra rich and corporations who have spent generations siphoning off American's wealth to themselves and doing next to nothing to give back to the workers that help make them so much money.
