FBI arrests East LA man for allegedly distributing face shields during protests

They were a group of rioters were they. Do you know that or are you being creative?
Please notice the use of the conditioning word, "if" in my comment.

(Britannica Dictionary definition of IF. ( something that is not certain : something that could either happen or not happen.)

A face shield is legal for anyone to possess , wear or sell.

They have to prove Orellana himself conspired to riot.

Tough job for a prosecutor.
Mostly true of firearms, these days. And the poster's argument suggests the mere sale of an item that "reduces risk" for a rioter is sufficient cause to prosecute. Seems firearms can be interpreted to "reduce risk", especially given the ubiquity of stand your ground laws and good guy with a gun arguments.

So, you have a problem with every gun shop in America. Their product also reduces risks.
That's debatable. A gun can reduce risk if used in a defensive mode, but not in an offensive mode. (See? Others can make silly arguments, too.)
You all started using civil disorder at the same time.
It probably didn't come up in conversation very often until you guys started rioting. You seldom hear things like, "Hi, Fred. Seen any good civil disorder lately?"

The OP article says it's 18 USC 371.

that's the conspiracy part

the unfiled charge is 'conspiracy to commit civil disorders'

I think this is the underlying crime, the 'civil disorders' part the dude allegedly conspired to commit

No, the much better explanation for your comment is that you appear to have first hand knowledge of the people involved, including not only their actions but their motivations.
Wrong again. Your "explanation" is stupid and not meant for serious consideration.
(BTW, your bridge called and wants you back under it.)

Handing out Guns at a riot definitely would get people arrested. Face shields? I doubt it.
What about selling guns at a gun store in the vicinity of the riot to people who are legally authorized to purchase them?

They aren't prosecuting a PPE store in the vicinity so I think your analogy simply fails.

What's stopping them from going after a PPE store next? Per the criminal code they cited, near as I can tell it makes no differentiation between whether it was an individual handing face shields out or a business selling face shields.

I don't think they have a case, but what they did isn't what you are saying.

I would in fact definitely expect that handing out guns at a riot would get one arrested but not selling guns in a legal manner.

It's not normally a crime to just give or sell people PPE, so the context would have to matter.

ICE masks = Brownshirts
Or immigrants who want to hide their identities. The NY mayoral candidate said 3 of the ICE officers were immigrants who detained him voted for the president.

That's right. The guy was a part of encouraging people to engage in civil disorder. That has nothing to do with a peaceful protest. When are some people going to learn that they risk arrest if they break the law?
Passing out a mask doesn’t do that smh

.......it's only unfair when the law goes after your own kind.

Sloth had a heart of gold not an insatiable desire to decorate everything with it.
