nter if you dare," is the message on Gary Larson's website challenging people to explore his new content. "The Far Side" cartoonist surprised fans this week when he published never-before-seen comics for the first time in 25 years.However, the comics he released Tuesday are a bit different than Larson's previous works. The "New Stuff" is not the classic pen and ink comics that his followers are familiar with. Larson says on his website that his most recent creations are "the result of my journey into the world of digital art."
He retired in 1995, citing "fatigue and fear that if I continue for many more years my work will begin to suffer, or at the very least ease into the Graveyard of Mediocre Cartoons," according to a statement at the time.
Larson, who launched his website only last year, says that in retirement he enjoyed the freedom to cartoon infrequently and without deadlines, and explore other interests.

Love me some Far Side. He grew up near the Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle) A stone's throw from where I grew up. This guy is brilliant. Welcome back. Lord knows we need some humor.
 
I love the Far Side too! Every year I would by the Day to Day calendar, my favorite!
 
I think it will have to be an "acquired taste" getting use to his new digital tablet drawing. I just loved his pen and paper drawings.
 
The new stuff isn't his best stuff but it made me happy to see them.

One I can't find is where two hunters in the woods come upon a basketball hoop mounted on a tree with deer tracks below it - one hunter asks the other "were they playing zone or man to man?".

Yes, he and a famous herpetologist lived right there by the zoo, where my ex was a zookeeper and coincidentally, also a herpetologist.

We met Gary when he spoke at a herpetology conference our club held in Seattle years ago...he has some great stories. Real life stories are just as bizarre as his cartoons.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

I grew up on 44th & Phinney. So I spent a fair amount of time in the park.
