I just came across this video which exemplifies another example of my own experiences with many claims made by both the MSM, and certain Fact-Checking organizations that leads me to doubt them when it comes to Mr. Trump:

In this video, the presenter has taken a recent New York Times "fact check" article published on 08/02/18 and examined an issue raised in the title, a claim that his rallies drew greater crowds than Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Bruce Springsteen concerts.

In the video we see him show what the alleged claim being fact-checked was, and a prior "source" from Politifact dated 11/07/16 cited by the writer to show this was not the first time Trump "lied" about rally crowd size comparisons with Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Please note for the record that the writer of the New York Times piece also wrote the Politifact piece.

This video clearly shows that in BOTH situations the writer misrepresented the facts in order to "fact-check" as false/misleading something Mr. Trump did not actually say when each speech is shown completely.

This is the sort of thing several members of this Forum have pointed out over the last 2 years (remember for example the "insulting" dumping of food in the Japanese Koi pond report?), and the very kind of thing I have stated earned Mr. Trump my support back during the 2016 campaign. I checked those sources, and found that with one or two exceptions, they were either misleading or outright falsehoods.

The video is correct in stating if Trump is really so bad, there is no reason to "create" false or misleading stories unless there is an ulterior motive beyond just reporting the news.

IMO this is one of several reasons why so many people are openly declaring they are walking away from the Democratic party, and may undermine the alleged Blue Wave some are expecting this Fall.

Time will tell. :coffeepap:

Bahahahahahahahahahahaha.

"A random YouTube commentator confirmed for me my hatred of the media by claiming Trump's crowds are actually bigger than Jay-Z's, because this is the kind of issue I care about and is my last desperate attempt to defend dear leader."

If some guy on youtube says it, it must be true!

Fallacious non-responses based on assumption bias, as clearly neither of you viewed the evidence presented? Typical.

Your boy took an article calling out 15 fallacious statements Trump made and only attempted to fact check the one that is completely irrelevant and means nothing.

You're defending a habitual liar, so don't pretend for one second you value truth.

The point you refuse to see is the point you keep making about Trump, i.e. "why does anyone trust anything he says when he lies so much?"

So why trust "trusted sources" on anything THEY post, when they also lie and mislead so much?

I prefer to fact-check sources myself these days. :coffeepap:

Because the ratio of Trump lies to MSM lies is at least a factor of 10, and unlike the totally brainless Trump cultists I don't automatically believe everything I hear.

You make all these whine threads about the MSM being dishonest but when in your entire posting history on DP have you called Trump out on his lies? You are not a truth seeker, only a hyper partisan fanboy.

100% agree. The sad thing is that Trump makes so many ignorant statements that there isn't even a need to manufacture more.

I find it funny that rather than actually refuting any of the comments made, the responses you get are nothing but ad hominem.

Same with the people who attack science.
Find an error in science, claim science is all suspect as a result.

The fact is, out of Trump's what, 4K+ lies, sure, some are misrepresented. Maybe he's at 3945 instead of 4000. Wow. You did it.
The vast majority of things people who Trump accountable for are things he literally said or tweeted, that one can hear with their own ears, and see with their own eyes.

But just like Trump, he's Captain Trump Apologist here to tell us not to believe what we see or hear...except this random youtube guys cherry picked stuff...and the White House.

You know what your source lacks, that both the NYT and politifact have? Links to sources.

Vomiting Trump propaganda onto this forum everyday is not a "conversation", so we're not missing out on much if you decide to check out.

Considering you have resorted to nothing but argumentum ad hominem, do you really believe you have brought anything of value into this thread?

Apparently you DO automatically believe everything you hear - from the MSM.

The thread started off in the gutter so any contribution is an improvement. For one I pointed out the youtuber picked one of the 15 lies called out in the article, the one that is totally irrelevant, then didn't really disprove that. I also pointed out the ratio of Trump lies to MSM lies is at least a factor of 10. What the **** of value have you brought to this thread?

Can you explain why Trump should always be defended and the media always attacked, even while the former lies far more often than the latter?

Apparently you DO automatically believe everything you hear - from the MSM.

Show me a quote that proves this. I've claimed Trump is a habitual liar, not that the media never lies.

The New York Times and politifact are correct: trump claimed that his campaign rallies drew more people in attendance than one of Beyoncé’s and jay-z’s concerts. The numbers don’t back trump up. Beyoncé and Jay-z drew larger crowds at their concerts than trump did at his rallies.

If it was so completely irrelevant and means nothing then why was it Linda's very first one on her list of 15?

What you're doing here is excusing the lie told by the NYT Linda Qui by saying that Trump is a habitual liar. Shouldn't we expect FACTS from FACT CHECKERS?

Oh, and I thought you were against whataboutisms? You used it right here.

No, as you also clearly did not view the video evidence of what he stated. He was not comparing his rallies with their concerts. He was comparing his rallies with Hillary rallies those entertainers were at.

You obviously did not watch the video where the author of the video shows full context. Not once did Trump mention "concerts". Try again.

Show me a quote that proves this. I've claimed Trump is a habitual liar, not that the media never lies.

The YouTuber picked the headlining claim and debunked it. If the "fact check" that you lead in with is deliberately misleading and false then it is going to give the reader doubt as to whether the rest of the article is correct which is the point the youtuber is making.

You know what your source lacks, that both the NYT and politifact have? Links to sources.

His source actually provided the exact video's and showed the NYT's statements AND Politifacts statements AND showed the video of Trumps statement. You obviously did not watch the video.

I was a big fan of Politifact when it first came out but over time I began noticing a slight bias to the left, and then more, and then still more. When they started inferring what a comment they were "fact-checking" REALLY meant, I gave up on them. Political spin hit 10,000 rpm CCW (to the left).

If you two value the truth and aren't just knee jerk reacting hyper partisans, why haven't I seen you call Trump out on his far more numerous lies of higher magnitude and importance? You're picking out one mistruth among many truths in an attempt to discredit the entire media industry.

No, as you also clearly did not view the video evidence of what he stated. He was not comparing his rallies with their concerts. He was comparing his rallies with Hillary rallies those entertainers spoke at.

I looked at the articles in question, and the trump quote in question:

Beyonce and Jay Z, I like them, I like them ... I get bigger crowds than they do. It's true. I get far bigger crowds."— Donald Trump on Monday, November 7th, 2016 in a speech in Raleigh, N.C.

Trump was boasting that he drew larger crowds than Beyonce and Jay-z. That is false.

I expect Trump to lie. In fact I expect ALL politicians to lie. Where are you when your side lies? Oh wait...as evidenced by this thread you defend them with whataboutisms while not calling out Linda Qui for her lie.

Pot meet Kettle.
