Bottom line is that no religion or any other ideology has been effective at preventing human beings from harming each other.

Not at all. You no more follow any teaching than does any other theist. All of who have a differing opinion as to what that teaching is.

And that would be an argument not to follow their teachings...


Just like witch trials, the inquisitions and the crusades (including the Albigensian crusade in the are we now call Southern France) are good reasons to reject Christianity...and we haven't covered modern topics like AIDS in India and Africa, violence towards homosexuals and hypocrisy in the church including child molestation and rape.
