Today the European Union foreign ministers will discuss the possibility of recognizing a Palestinian state, following the proposal put forward by Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn.
EU countries to discuss recognizing Palestinian state - The Jerusalem post

In recent years, many European parliaments including France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Ireland and the United Kingdom have passed motions calling on their governments to recognize Palestine. Only one European Union country (Czech Republic) voted against the recognition of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in 2012 and the current president of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, remains a strong supporter of Israeli policy in the Occupied Territories. He is on record of calling other EU leaders cowards when he equated their support for Palestinians as promoting terrorism. Getting 27 member states to agree on a consensus recognition of a Palestinian state will not be easy and it will be interesting to hear what the Czech foreign minister, Tomáš Petříček, in particular has to say under orders from Zeman.

I'm all for this but the Palestinians won't have any part of it. They want a one-state solution whereby they get the "right of return," to Israel, which really means they want to take over everything the Israelis have built and then run the Jews out.

Mark my words, the Palestinians will reject it.

The Jerusalem Post quoted a Palestinian source for this story which suggests that the Palestinians would welcome an EU recognition of their state with its de jure capital in East Jerusalem.

Okay, I checked it out, and you're right the Palestinians would welcome it -- but it would destroy Israel.

Anything that involves a right of return has to be rejected by the international community because it would wipe out the Jewish State.

UPDATE
Nothing was decided at the EU foreign ministers meeting on Tuesday regarding the recognition of Palestine as a state.
