Elizabeth Warren bullied to take DNA test to prove Indian heritage

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHA

Seriously, her efforts against Evil Banks? You mean that disaster known as the CFPB? LOL. Also, you are why the MeToo movement took so damn long to take off. Excusing dishonesty because "Her tireless efforts against Evil Banks!" "We have to look at the totality of his Presidency and Bill Clinton was good for women's rights" or "I was sexually abused by Harvey Wienstien, but I landed that role so.."

It's the same ****ing thing, at the base of it.

Actually, her work long before her political career was ground-breaking in finding the root causes of bankruptcies in America and proving that it was not so much neglect of bills but more of medical emergencies. She's been standing up for the American people for a long time and the GOP can't have shade thrown at their donors.

No, she had shoddy work and pushed an agenda as a study to make a lot of hay.

I prefer more comprehensive and honest work

Finally, we feel another study is worth mentioning that complicates the definition of medical bankruptcies. Ning Zhu of the University of California, Davis, has a 2008 draft study analyzing bankruptcies filed in Delaware in 2003. He found that overspending on household expenditures such as houses and automobiles contributed significantly to bankruptcy filings. His data show that the overspending made people more likely to file for bankruptcy after an illness.

That may sound like a "no duh" conclusion, but it raises questions about medical bankruptcies and how they are defined. If people overspend so much that they need everything to go right to meet their financial obligations, and then they get sick, should those bankruptcies properly be categorized as medical bankruptcies? We're not suggesting there's an easy answer here, but it does make the category of "medical bankruptcy" a good bit more complicated.

The statistic that we think is most reliable is the percentage of people who say medical bills were the reason for their bankruptcy, and that number is 29 percent. The 2007 study uses a broader definition to conclude that 62.1 percent of all bankruptcies have medical-related causes. Dodd is citing that number correctly. But we find that percentage questionable because it reflects a broad definition of medical issues that contribute to bankruptcy. We rate his statement Half True.
Medical bankruptcy study not so clear-cut | PolitiFact

Americans go bankrupt primarily because they spend too much money, according to a study by Ning Zhu at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. Medical costs also contribute to a lesser extent to bankruptcy, but unemployment and other adverse events have little effect, Zhu found. He notes, however, that when households are already financially stretched by overspending, they become more vulnerable to unexpected costs such as a big medical bill.

Zhu studied all bankruptcy records from the year 2003 in the state of Delaware, compared to the Federal Reserve Board’s national survey of consumer spending for households that had never declared bankruptcy.

Fifty percent of bankruptcies were caused by debt, he found. Bankrupts had higher mortgages, car loans and credit card debt than non-bankrupt households, but on average had half the income. Average credit card debt for bankrupt households roughly equaled their income.

The availability of personal bankruptcy might actually encourage such consumption patterns, because people assume that they can walk away from their debts, Zhu says. In 2005, Congress revised bankruptcy law, making it harder for individuals to seek bankruptcy. The reforms pleased banks and credit companies, but were opposed by consumer advocates. While the full ramifications of the 2005 reforms will take years to emerge, understanding what contributes to personal bankruptcy is key to evaluating the law, Zhu says.
The causes of bankruptcy - Egghead

See, people that over spend and over borrow and then have a medical situation arise, Ms Warren would call that a MEDICAL BANKRUPTCY when in reality it had everything to do with "POOR MONEY MANAGEMENT"

Chuck Todd was acting like an ass this morning trying to bully Elizabeth Warren into taking a DNA test to prove her Indian heritage. Warren heroically rejected the idea and fought back, "Nobody is going to take that part of me away".

It's a travesty that a powerful woman such as Warren is having her ancestry questioned in a silly attempt to undercut her presidential ambitions.

PLEASE let her run. It would be the best thing you could do for the Reps. Warren is a far left hack who's one and only positive contribution to this nation was her denouncement of Antifa. Outside of that one moment of clarity, she's a complete ultra-far left loon. Warren is the epitome of what is wrong with the Dems. today and why they lost the lost the last election. She's nothing but an identity politics tool with no ideas outside of what she is spoon-fed by the DNC.

When Fat Al tried to muscle in on Mike Tyson's career, he said "Call me Uncle Al." Don King gave Fat Al the boot at Mike's request.

Like my dog, I'm a Heinz, 57 varieties. Mostly from the continental NE Europe. Family rumor has it that a Pomonok Indian from Long Island (the Pomonoks were almost entirely destroyed by the Iroquois during a battle in the early 16th century) went to Europe, joined a circus and somehow married into the family during the early 18th century. If true, that would make me .0000896% or some such part Indian. I've never seen a smidgen of proof. My very Austro Hungarian maternal grandmother used to brag about that story to war buddies of my father's, Mohawks, part Shoshone, from near Syracuse NY, two brothers. They were polite to her, but behind her back would say things like "who would want to brag about running dogs in the family?" and laugh themselves silly. But they liked her strudel when they came to visit. All so silly.

Interesting story.

You know I have a very good friend of Hungarian descent, he grew up in Cleveland speaking Hungarian and English, is in his 70s now. He used to have an old photo of his grandmother set back in the old country, probably from the early 1900s, framed and hanging on the wall...I would swear that she was a black woman in her 50s to 60s... I mean, it seemed strange to see that pictured in Austria-Hungary pre WW I. But it makes no never mind, or shouldnt, of our true heritsge, not in America...its what each, what we do individually and with our family, friends, fellows, and our partners that is important.

I used to randomly ask my classes how many felt that we should no longer even have boxes to check, asking what race we consider ourselves on things like college applications...almost invariably, the students felt we shouldnt, that there was no reason that race should be a factor in determining much of anything...as long as you are a member of the human race...

Citizenship was different...that was a factor that DID count in their, mine too, opinion.

I see no problem applying political pressure on those in office, and/or aspiring to office, to clarify their claims and background. This is basic transparency in vetting & electing an official.

This lack of vetting & demanding transparency in Trump's tax returns, is in part why we're in the mess we are now with him.

If Ms. Warren insists on "keeping her private parts private", whatever the hell that means, she should have no problem with the voters keeping their votes private and out of her hands either!

Did you feel the same about Trump paying off his lays ?

Warren has her detractors here in Mass. But overall folks seem to approve of her performance. She has done a much better job for Mass than her tea bag predeccesor. She has a safe seat, sorry Adorables but Liz is staying put in DC. Sometimes it takes a woman, lots of women!! You go girls !!

Speaking of loons. Did you see that guy at the rally over the weekend. He was spinning around on stage uttering gibberish. Oh wait, that was Trump acting the fool yet again. I am a Mass voter, will be checking the box for Liz in Nov:2wave:

There's a big difference. Roy Moore is a pedophile. Fascinating that it took someone to point that out.

lol just try to be consistent, at least once? She did something 40 years ago that impacted where she is today. Without a DNA test, it's easy to assume she did not get into her position on her own merit.

She should say she'd take the test if Trump took an IQ test, since he likes to claim he is a genius. But in reality, he behaves like a complete idiot

I agree with this too, except the problem here is she isn't in office because of her ancestry. She won in Massachusetts based on her dopey politics. If her constituents wanted her claim vetted, they would have demanded it years ago when she beat Brown. They didn't. It has nothing to do with why they voted for her.

This is really petty and makes the Republicans look bad. Nobody cares about her family folk stories.

And thus the bar for a civil society is lowered just a little bit more by both parties.

Yes she did....or she can take an easy dna test to prove otherwise.

Which minority did she cheat out of a position? I have yet to ever see anything released by Harvard that verifies that claim, and only the hiring committee would know who else was up for a job the year she landed hers with them. Can you please post something from tem to back this up?

..and TDS...

It's obvious that any such DNA would be so trivial as to not matter. That amount would not justify taking a chance away from a real Native American. If you think a real Native American, with between say 80 to 100% of Native American DNA, should be passed over by an Anglo Saxon woman with only 1%, then you obviously don't care about the whole college scheme that was meant to benefit Native Americans in the first place.

You libs just have to have your affirmative action quotas, don't you?

She was told no such thing. She lied. She is a liar and a contemptible hypocrite.

So you say.

It's a trivial matter, and the only thing that the Trumpeteers have to bash her with. If that's all they have, she must be a pretty good candidate, moreover, if they're already harping on her Pocahontas status, she must be getting ready to run and must have some backing, otherwise they wouldn't bother.

No one is doing anything worse to her than that done to Trump. Should she get a break because she is a woman and not equal to men?

Fauxahontis has met a fork in the road and needs to take it.

Hell, just ask her if she has ever had a Cherokee dinner. What's that you say?

“A six pack and a possum,” Andy replied.

Seriously?

Trump has demonstrated an uncanny ability to do or say anything and not have it affect his support. Talk about a teflon president, he's it.

Yep.

It's a sure thing. We've got it in the bag.

I don't buy any such notion until the contest is over anymore. Liberal voters are just too fickle to trust turning out.

Did you feel the same about Trump paying off his lays ?
Absolutely!

Trump's even worse, in that he is actively trying to silence American citizens! He's now coming after 60 minutes, because they interviewed Stormy Daniels! He's trying to prevent them from airing the interview. So now we have the President of the U.S. silencing news orgs? And 60 Minutes, at that?

Judging by the Adorables freak out over Warren and a 40 yo form, they are running scared. Warrens seat is SAFE.

Mr Mueller will be working on that Tump Teflon. Thus all the silly threads started by the Adorables over Warren. Trumps worst nightmare 2020, an all female ticket, or an African American. I still say keep an eye on Booker from NJ.
