She didn't minimize the tragedy or defend the attackers. What the right so readily took out of context was that she said some people did some things, then the government tries to use it as an excuse to restrict the rights of innocent people.

This is THE EXACT same argument that 2nd amendment supporters use when there's a mass shooting. Are you saying the people who argue against the government restricting gun rights are defending mass murderers?

I don't know why. Establishment of a worldwide caliphate is a goal, one that ISIS was attempting and one that has been attempted before, and that Iran is still slowly working on. They oppress women, mutilate their genitals, have honor killings... ...what is there to wonder about.
