The "right people" are combating this virus, he said, stressing that Dr. Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, "will tell you what's going on" and "when you need to worry."
Dr. Drew replied, "Yes, yes, yes. We are not over-reacting, the press is overreacting. It makes me furious. The press should not be reporting medical stories as though they know how to report it."
The coronavirus is "going to be much more widespread than we knew," he said. "It’s going to be much milder than we knew. The 1.7% fatality rate is going to fall. Where was the press during the Mediterranean corona outbreak when the fatality rate was 41%. They want to get crazed about something why didn’t they get crazed about MERS and SARS?"
"President Trump is absolutely correct," said Dr. Drew. "He allocated $2.5 billion for this, Chuck Schumer [D-N.Y.] asked for $8 billion. My response is, hey man, we’ve got a homeless problem here in California and in Denver. Would you please give us some of that $8 billion and forget about the coronavirus? We’ve got that taken care of."
