Does archaeology Prove or Disprove stories in the Old Testament (Tanakh)?

On the other hand, his comment is accurate, and you can not show it to be false.

The reason I don't answer you more is because your claims are largely horse manure and don't rate the time it takes to refute them.

Nuts. I've got 40+ years and two theology degrees, and Bart Ehrman's theology needs a lot of help. "Misquoting" Jesus? Answering Bart Ehrman: Apologetics on CBN.com

Au contraire...

The New Testament Jesus looks amazingly like what was prophesied about the Jewish Messiah. IMO Christ critics have a fundamentally flawed concept of the Jewish Messiah and when he was supposed to appear - the 1st century. Examples in the article below.

please stop!

This thread is supposed to be looking at archaeological evidence that proves or disproves some of the stories found in the Old Testament. Could we try to return to that subject?

Yet, you never, ever ever refuted anything. For that matter, you never supported your claims either. You just promoted propoganda (quite often without actually reading it either), or cutting/pasting from a blog that is totally insane.

A) So let me get this straight....

Your 2 degrees in APOLOGIST THEOLOGY, trumps my thousandish hours of lectures and such by the preeminent CRITICAL SCHOLARS in field, but Bart Ehrmans ridiculously more extensive list of academic achievements does not trump your 2 degrees....

Lol!

Either we are “argument to authoritying” or we are not .. we can’t be cherry picking our arguments to authority.

B) the predictions only look AT ALL like what was prophesied if we only take the couple verses you want from totally separate books and smoosh them together. While throwing everything else in the OT out..

I have seen the arguments and they are in NO WAY objective....

A) Some lean on the verbiage of god speaking of a “Son”..

Every time god is talking to the Jewish people he does so from the POV of a father to a son.. any jew from biblical times to know will speak of God as “my father”..

It is very personal in every case...

B) it requires a whole lot of symbolism type interpretation..

(From memory and it has been awhile...)

“Well if you assume the reference to sacrificing a lamb in X book is really referring to Jesus. Then this other reference in Isiah that references a lamb must be too!!!”

They never established “the lamb” was a reference to Jesus in the first place.. let alone the jump to applying it in other places, but not others..

C) MOST IMPORTANTLY..

It is fundamentally and structurally different that Christianity..

Let’s say I concede the OT did predict a messiah, and Jesus fit the requirements (I don’t, but for the hypothetical)... Just for one of many STRUCTURAL CHANGES....

Where did heaven and hell come from?!!?

Keep parroting that nonsense. Maybe you'll convince a poor person or something.

Nothing nonsensical whatsoever about the definition of "corroborated", and the act of parroting itself is more in line with those who regurgitate dogma.

What other choice do Christians have? Anyone can look up anything on the internet, including their vapid arguments. Arguments that worked before people didn't have access to information.

There isn’t one..

They are trying to make the argument that, “they know the unknowable” and the unknowable just happens to be bat crap crazy..

Oh plus there is nothing resembling proof...

Plus they tell you up front that the most important trait you can have is your willingness to believe in the ridiculous...

It is called faith.

The traditional, Biblical Jesus Christ trumps you and Ehrman.

Save it for your peanut gallery, OM.

I see God let you live another day. Thank him.

I see Thor let you live another day.. you should thank him..

See how easy that was?? Lol

Thor isn't god, or haven't you figured that out yet?

Oh I think quite a few billion dollar movies might want to argue that point. :p

BWAHAHAHAHA

Only according to a guy with 2 apologist degrees in theology..

To everyone else in the world that is hilarious.

Which in no way undermines the fact that there is nothing nonsensical whatsoever about the definition of the word "corroborated", as relates to pointing out your misuse of that word; and the fact that the act of "parroting" itself applies more aptly to those regurgitating unquestioned dogma rather than those providing bonafide definitions.

"Logic"man, please outline the logic which corroborates that a supernatural entity plays chess with the lives and fates of humans.

Thor IS a god, just not one that you worship. There are hundreds of deities that are worshipped even in today's world. True that the vast majority of humans who are Jewish, Christian and Muslim all worship one specific god but that doesn't mean the others aren't hanging out in some ethereal tavern trading jokes and stories about those silly little creatures on one specific dirtball travelling thru space and time.
