Does anyone actually believe Trump's "correction" of when he says misspoke?

Re: Does anyone actually believe Trump's "correction" of when he says misspoke?

The GOP in Congress have no choice but to pretend to believe it or Trump will kill their political careers.

Perhaps that is why there are 44 incumbent GOP house members not seeking reelection this year. That enhances greatly the Democrats chances of taking back the house. All told, the republicans have 54 at risk seats vs. only 6 for the Democrats. A better way to look at it is the Republicans have 186 safe seats vs. 189 solid Democratic seats. The rest are up for grabs, they could go either way.

Donald Trump is a right winged extremist borderline KKK leader who causes a chain reaction from left winged extremist fundamentalists who want Stalinism/Communism also! I can't help speaking my mind especially if you all have no idea what you are talking about... Leftists/Rightists are like cavemen illogical, irrational, devolved, primitive and unreasonable beings in my honest opinion essentially. If you want to have a rational and logical discourse or proper change in the world then stop contributing to political polarisation and this joke you call "political debate" in America and the Western world that is just chaos mate! When your debates are full of radical emotional bias.... This is just my opinion, and you are all entitled to disagree with me in fact I encourage such to provoke rational, reasonable and logical discussion.

Well ........... poisoning the well right at the start doesn't exactly provoke rational, reasonable and logical discussion.

You might try a different tact if you truly desire reasonable and logical discussion.

Does anyone actually believe that Trump misspoke at the news conference?

Yesterday, some 24+ hours after saying "[Putin] just said it’s not Russia. I will say this. I don’t see any reason why it would be," Donald Trump issued a correction of one of his Helsinki remarks, saying that instead of "would" he meant "wouldn't." So, essentially, it was the oral equivalent of a typo.

So, Trump would have us believe:
  1. He merely misspoke.
  2. It took him 24 hours to figure out that he did, despite global recriminations about his off the cuff Helsinki remarks.
  3. Through two interviews on Fox, it never occurred to him that he misspoke.
  4. Through a flight with the WH press pool on Air Force One, it never occurred to him or anyone to go to the back of the plane and issue the misstatement correction.
  5. The other remarks he made that one way or another contravene the notion that he misspoke.
  6. That we misheard or misunderstood him.

In the face of all that, how frigging "new," naive, and doltish must one be to accept that "oh, it was just a typo?" Um, greener than grass and dumber than the day is long. And who fits that description? Trumpkins; "The Base." And that is solely the population segment for which Trump and his team (including Pence and Miller) labored for 24 hours and devised that lame ass excuse Trump delivered and half-retracted yesterday.

But hey, I suppose we could correct all sorts of remarks Trump has made using the same rationale. To wit, we could construe that Trump misspoke and that he left off "the"....What he really meant was that Mexico is sending us THErapists.

I do not believe him whatsoever. I really don't believe much of anything that comes out of his mouth.

I don't think even the Trump supporters believe him.

Does anyone actually believe that Trump misspoke at the news conference?

No one believes it.
But Trump's base will believe it because they want to believe him.
That's what training at Fox makes happen.

Re: Does anyone actually believe Trump's "correction" of when he says misspoke?

absolutely NO; one word does not define Trump's entire statement

if Trump thinks anyone believes his explanation then Trump is dumber than I even believed

Lot of words, the question is do you believe Trump misspoke?

I am a bit confused. Do people really expect a president to call out another world leader in a press conference standing right next to them?

If Trump did that it could have escalated a war. Were people expecting a fight or a debate?

I'll pray for you!

Yes!People expect a President not to wimp out in front of the world!

Re: Does anyone actually believe Trump's "correction" of when he says misspoke?

Your very confident about something that you have no evidence of. Is there even a remote possibility in your mind that Trump is in fact innocent of the accusations being made against him?

I keep coming back to the same thing because Trump exhibits this overarching flaw in his Presidency in one way or another every single day, every breath he takes. The dif in Helsinki and in the week ahead of Helsinki and in Singapore is that this flaw has become a National Security issue and an issue of maintaining peace and order in the world.

The flaw is pretty easy to see. Trump simply either ignores or does not know about or does not care that the office of Chief Executive requires the ability to separate the occupant's Political self and Financial self from his responsibilities as Chief Executive. Trump can say whatever he wants to say in his whacko rallies. Who cares. I certainly don't care. If certain people get a hard on over Trump in rally mode, more power to them I guess. But really, Trump rally mode is not more substantive than pornography.

However, every single day, Trump rejects his responsibilities as Chief Executive and baths in the role of political personality and financial entity regardless of how much wreckage he causes. When he is not rejecting his responsibilities as Chief Executive, he is feathering his political nest or spending hours in front of the TV (do we really think that is what a President should be doing) or taking direct input from his favorite TV personalities, playing golf, visiting his properties charging US taxpayers each time, tweeting, making a fool of himself and if there is any time left over, he will appoint a Judge or two and his fans appear to think that gets it done.

He rejects his role as Chief Executive with such vigor that he trips over himself on the world stage and is left in the laughable position of having to explain the unexplainable, to turn back a clock that simply can't be turned back, to unsay what can't be unheard and to undo what can't be undone. Its the last one that is going to get all of us at some point. He is clearly so inept, so unfit that as bad as everything else he does from the office of the Chief Executive is, it simply points to the day when he is left trying to undo what can't be undone leaving us with a mess that will take decades to repair. Heck we are already likely into decades of repair on some of this Trump garbage.

that straight shooter; what's not to believe?
his credibility was enhanced by not walking back the remarks until the next day, only after realizing the brouhaha he had initiated

I'm embarrassed for you.

You are somewhat right in your question about what to expect when standing next to him. Nonetheless, that is why having a meeting with Putin was so stupid to begin with. We had NOTHING to gain and much to lose and here is the proof of how bad this meeting turned out for US. It was an error of judgment of epic proportions.

Then on the other hand, Trump did clearly say (which he didn't have to say) that he believed Putin's denial over our Intelligence Community's findings and that was a huge mistake as well since it "lifts" Putin's reputation while lowering ours, which is not something you EVER do in a situation like this. You maintain at the very least that we are looking to work together but that we are right in our assessment of the situation. You don't ram it down the opponents throat but you also don't BACK DOWN. In addition, he also said the "we" both have made mistakes. Isn't the first rule of a debate is not to admit to have made mistakes? You never give the edge to the other party in a fight because you know he will take advantage of the weakness.

Last but not least, we have overwhelming military strength over Russia, over 10 times more than they have. In addition, they are a POOR country and cannot afford a fight. As such, you may try to be diplomatic but what is done in that kind of situation is make sure that the other party (in this case Russia) knows we have the numbers on our side. This is common sense. Can you imagine one gang letting the other gang know that there is weakness within your gang. That you do not believe you are the best?

No, there was a lot of stupidity done by Trump and that is just not something you or anyone else can explain intelligently.

Trump tweeted about people who complained he was overfriendly wanting a war instead. Nutso, but followers take it seriously.

I took it as sarcasm. Hope I'm right!

The walk back of the walk back from the twitter hole has already started today. It’s just Charlottesville every day here.

An Americorps truth squad is desperately needed to fact-check every Blatant Outrageous Irrational LIE — BOIL — out of Moscow DC right now.

If you are going to believe other people that claim they mispoke then why not trump?
ol yea TDS bias.

Are you serious?

This can't even be classified as a misspeak (unless of course you are a 5-year old and naive person".

His "Would, Wouldn't" words weren't even the key. The key is that he said clearly "I talked to Putin about it and he adamantly denied it. I believe him". Anything after that is not important. He literally said he believes Putin.......... a proven liar.

In addition and with Trump being a liar himself and knowing the "Art of the Scam", wouldn't you believe he can tell when someone is lying to him? Trump has clearly stated many times over that he "knows what is going on" and the he is the "only one that can fix the problems" and now he believes another Scammer and Liar?

Not by a longshot, he is in cahoots with Putin, plain and simple. This is just a bigger Scam, one with Trump AND Putin in it together and we are the targets of the scam and you are buying it "hook, line, and sinker". They are reeling you in and you are going to be dinner tonight.
