They made a deal, I think the trigger should be binding.
Some explanation or link or something that shows wth you're talking about would be good.....
I'm pretty sure that if the supercommittee fails, everything gets cut.

Yes I am glad Obama had those automatic cuts strctured into the deficit cutting process.I applaude Obama for standing firm on this issue. The politicians who are turning heals right now are pathetic. Let the automatic cuts happen!
Anyone remember what area the "triggered" cuts are in? The triggers should be binding - I respect him for saying so. But, for all I know, the cuts may be in areas I don't what cut.
What am I saying? I want all the areas cut!

This whole thing was a Republican idea, I say make them actually follow through with the spending cuts they threatened. Between the spending cuts to the military/industrial complex and letting the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy expire next year should be a good start in the direction we need to go.
Tally ho!!!

the whole thing was a Republican idea?...what?
the DOD will spend more on the next budget than it did on the last budget... even with the "cuts" taking place
the congressional definition of "cut" is different from ours.
if they spend 5 bucks this year, and want to spend 10 bucks next year, they will consider it a "cut" to spend 7 bucks.
i give them credit for at least making an attempt to hold them accountable. if memory serves correctly it was the republicans that wanted a balanced budget amendment to make sure they do their jobs and the democrats wouldnt agree to it
A balanced budget amendment does not address the correct priorities. It does not touch the cause of most of the debt over the last 30 years, tax cuts for the rich, and spending almost as the rest of the world combined on the military.
some/most of the cuts aren't actually cuts... they are decreases in budget growth.
in other words, spending will still increase, just at a lower rate.
