Do you now see how foolish it was to offshore our manufacturing to a hostile communist country?

Trump's America first policies work FOR AMERICANS. He's the only president so far that actually had the foresight and leadership to try and deal with China. And the only one that's had any success bringing back our lost manufacturing jobs stolen by China. Like face masks and sanitary supplies, which were made here until the great manufacturing flush that started with Clinton, continued during the Bush administration, and was gleefully embraced by Mr. "Those jobs aren't coming back" Obama.
Hate on Trump all you want, but his policies make sense, unlike the seeming endless parade of incompetent clowns on both sides the preceded him.
Trump needs another 4 years.
Going backwards with Biden is idiocy.

Correlation causation fallacy. Manufacturing went overseas because people demanded less expensive products yet higher wages.

Of the 41% of American manufacturing corporations moving out of China due to trade tariffs, only 6% have said that they are considering moving to the US. The rest are moving to SE Asia and Mexico. The biggest problem with US workers is that they want a living wage and don't know how to do anything. Plus "Made in the USA" is code for too expensive.

I actually agree with Trump's ideas about attempting to return manufacturing to the US, I just feel that the horse is already out of the barn.

China isn't the only country our jobs were shipped off to. They were sent to cheap labor markets all over the world. China's middle class has grown so fast in the past decades, companies have been outsourcing Chinese jobs to even poorer countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh and the Phillipines.

The central goals of capitalism are for companies to make products as cheaply as possible and to pay their workers as little as possible. So if a company can save money and pay workers less by moving the jobs overseas and laying off Americans, the rules of capitalism say they should, lest they interfere with the invisible hand of the free market. What you're arguing for is that the state interfere in the free market and force companies to pay more and limit their choices. That's fine, but it's odd for a conservative to be so anti-capitalism.

These are the rules, the well-being of Americans are the lowest priority in capitalism and the only sanctioned metric is profit. If you don't like that and want something new, maybe you're a secret liberal after all?

Yea but it seems wise to diversify our supply chain and decouple from China, even if it costs a few more cents for our plastic pumpkins.

Cheap labor Republicans.
Shall I go pull the mountains of quotes from Republican lawmakers insisting that outsourcing is "good for the American economy"?
It actually started with Nixon and Reagan.

Our current policy would be akin to the US having had almost all its penicillin and morphine manufactured in Nazi Germany right before WWII. We need to extract ourselves from dependence on China for ANY essential product and the sooner the better. There comes a point when national security supercedes corporate profit.

If that's the case, why do you suppose we couldn't get beyond between 2 and 3% GDP?
