Interested to know, do you have a phobia, and is it on my list?
Yup, that's the point of the thread, I have a particular dislike for those terms.
But anyway, anything related to actual phobias is still welcome.
The accusation of being ____ophobic is usually used as a nuclear option to shut down debate, though. "Your fear is irrational, therefore there's no point in arguing with you. I win." Speaking as someone who thinks homosexuals and Muslims should be 100% equal under the law, people doing that really get a rise out of me.Those terms have had semantic drift. Irrational fear is not the only definition in those cases.
I would say for me, Australians, though it is not irrational.

I'm pedantic about semantics.
Then you should be aware that meanings do change over time for words. Homophobia and to a lesser extent Islamaphobia are two examples.
But the meaning for phobia hasn't changed, it's been missaplied.
You should fear me. Muhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
You did not ask about the meaning of the word "phobia". You asked about specific compound words that include "-phobia". Those words have undergone semantic drift.
Yes, I have mysophobia.
Well, homophobia has, it was originally coined as men fearing to be perceived as gay, but islamophobia was coined specifically to denote a dislike, which is incorrect usage.
You don't want to catch my awesomeness disease.
Whats the one where you dont travel very far from home? Not really housebound, but close to it. I have that. Im afraid of panic attacks or not being able to find a bathroom (dont ask) which causes the panic attack.
No, that would be wrong.
Quoth for truth. It would be wrong for an American to be as awesome as an Australian.
Doesn't mean it has to be accepted.

did you know that when MEU's (Marine Expeditionary Units) pull into ports, Australian women write their phone numbers onto tennis balls and throw them at the ships/into the groups of Marines?
:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:Accepted by whom?
The words awesome and Australian do not belong in the same sentence, unless one is talking about Julia Gillard or Nicole Kidman.
