Taiwan is where the USA back forces of the Chinese warlord fled when losing to the Chinese communist revolution, with that invasion of nearly 1 million Chinese soldiers taking over Taiwan. As one of the most absurd foreign policy decisions of the USA, we declared that Taiwan was the REAL China - and that all the rest of China didn't exist. This continued from the end of WW2 in the mid 1940s under USA protection until Nixon came along in the 1970s and formally recognized China as China.

Taiwan was part of China until the Spanish and Dutch came along - and the Russians - and the Japanese. The majority population of Taiwan had become Chinese.

I can't change the poll, but it is the same question. Should the United States declare war on China if China were to attack and invade Taiwan?

China has the industrial might that the USA had before WW2. The roles of China and the USA are completely reversing. China is the industrial giant - that the USA is dependent upon. China is increasingly a capitalistic economy, while the USA is increasingly a socialist economy.

Ultimately, in a conventional war in the China Sea, China would ultimately obliterate the American military if it went to all-out conventional warfare. Even if our kill-destroy rate was 20 to 1, China still wins - and the Chinese will far more accept the civilian costs of war that Americans would quickly be sobbing over. Taking out a target, defeating an insurgency, and taking on the most populous and heaviest industry country on earth in their own backyard are not the same thing.

Without invading and conquering China it would be the perpetual war. If we attack China's mainland, China would attack ours. Hell, really all China would have to do to really hit us is to stop cooperating with all the advance medical teams watching for all the new diseases coming out of China.

If that war happened, they could probably hear the cheering in Russia in Kansas. A cancel Christmas too with the shelves on all stores empty. See the US's economy collapse without Chinese imports.
