Donald Trump is the Worst President Ever, 41 Percent of Americans Say in Poll

hqdefault.jpg

8/27/18
ere's a not particularly shocking statement—a good portion of Americans don't like President Donald Trump. But many Americans take it further than just not liking Trump. About four out of ten U.S. adults rate the former reality TV star as the worst president in American history, according a recent poll. The poll from YouGov/The Economist released last week asked "Who was the worst President in U.S. history?" Respondents could then choose every president ever. Forty-one percent chose Trump, who far and away earned the most support for the undesirable honor. It's worth noting there is likely some recency bias in these answers—meaning folks' views are skewed toward things that happened recently. Recent presidents were seemingly more likely to be rated as the "worst ever." Twenty-eight percent chose Barack Obama as the worst president ever while another five percent chose George W. Bush. Another five percent chose Richard Nixon as the worst commander-in-chief in history while no other president registered more than two percent, according to the poll. Interestingly, while a large number of Americans chose Obama as the best president ever—16 percent—just six percent chose Trump. Abraham Lincoln just nudged past Obama to earn the most support for "best president" at 17 percent.

If just 6% voted for Trump as the best president ever, then his loyal base is rapidly eroding.

Though I'm inclined to agree, we need to remember that America has at times experienced some simply awful presidents before. Particularly in the years leading up to the Civil War.

DT has already clinched at least the bottom 10 for now and might even crack the bottom five. But for him to become the worst president of all time...I shudder to think what he would have to do to get there.

A poll like this does mean much even though I would agree with its top choice. The one I want to see is from people who are the political scientists and historians who normally up the survey of experts and actually take all of our history into account. I suspect Trump will not fare well with them when he is considered.

The American people are educated enough to rank all Presidents I get told...

Stupid Season is surely here.

He is without a doubt the most corrupt...

Trumps approval rating has been spectacularly stable, take a look at the 538 tracker to start your education.

That is just cult trump.

His disapproval ratings are climbing as more and more people begin to understand what nearly everyone that has ever known him knows, he is a lying, cheating, moron, and a criminal to boot...

Who knew …

… we'd be wishing that Dubya could come back?

Anyone who takes POLLS as measuring sticks are little kids that believe in sports stats so much. Lmao

Dismiss and insult 1/3 of your peers at your own hazard....what you are supposed to be doing is listening...which hopefully gets followed with learning.

Such poll was released in February.

Political scientists rank Trump last, Lincoln first in presidential greatness survey

With one year of presidenting under his belt, Trump debuted in last place.

Even among the Republican political scientists, Trump ranked in the bottom 5.

I wouldn't give this poll the time of day.

Sampling method

Respondents were selected from YouGov’s opt-in Internet panel using sample matching. A random sample (stratified by gender, age, race, education, and region) was selected from the 2014 American Community Study. Voter registration was imputed from the November 2014 Current Population Survey Registration and Voting Supplement.

Weighting

The sample was weighted based on gender, age, race, education,2012 and 2016 Presidential votes (or non-votes). The weights range from 0.184 to 5.016, with a mean of one and a standard deviation of 0.638

THerefor discrediting themselves...they are in no position to judge Trump yet, some years are going to have to go by before they could, so this is an obvious lie.

But Americans are so dishonest and ignorant now that their lie gets play.

SAD

Baloney.

Trump wanted credit for the economy in January 2017. And his supporters fell in line with that assessment. And have been demanding credit for him nonstop since then. Have I not seen you among those with a laundry list of things which you think make him a good, maybe even great, president?

If he can earn credit, he can earn disapprobation. And these experts are in better position than the rest of us to judge.

I honestly can't think of even one extraordinary positive thing Trump has done.

Did Pruitt resign or did the Liar-in-Chief fire that corrupt ********er?

No they are not. You cant judge a president 1 year in. Clinton 1 year in would have been seen as a complete failure, Bush a complete success. The worst president in US history by far is LBJ. I will bet 1 year in he looked pretty good. I get that many, particularly on the left, ranked Trump at the bottom before he was sworn in. But the truth is, the country is doing quite well under his leadership and ranking him as worst is hackish. The jury is out and will be out for quite a while yet.

You can judge him one year in.

You can judge him two years in.

You can judge him when he leaves.

You can judge him 50 years later.

The judgment of history will likely change over the years.

It happens.

But if he can't be judged yet, then why are his supporters acting like he's the best thing since sliced bread? There's a whole lot of judging going on .... Pretty sure I've seen you indulge in it also.

Who has said he is the best thing sliced bread?

Every Trumper on this board. Simultaneously cheerleaders, perpetrators, and apologists.

"acting like" not "said"

If you're going to play coy, don't act like I said what I didn't.

I see you didn't dispute my memory of you judging Trump in a positive light, in spite of your present claim that it's too early to judge him.
