Different Levels of Hell?

You can go off on your tangents all you like but that has nothing to do with the point of this thread...thus the reason I quoted only the relevant part of the scripture...the wages of sin brings death...death acquits/releases us of the wages of our sins...

I'm responding to your chopped off verses......

Stick to the topic...

It is the topic.
It was your response to Ataraxia in post #11!

But your response was incoherent - because you've chopped off parts of the verses!

I simply explained it according to the Scriptures (without any butchery) - within the context that it was supposed to be understood.
I even showed you how consistently everything jived so well.

Speaking of the Sacrificial Lamb - here is another verse that supports it:

John 1:29

The Lamb of God

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

See? Everything is consistent!

It isn't about the kind of "death" you want to preach about.
We're talking about spiritual death (which could be met with different levels of punishments in hell).

For the sake of argument, let’s say there is a Heaven and a Hell. Do you think there are different levels of Hell? How evil was the person/soul that ends up here? Just an unbeliever or a mass murderer; do they suffer the same fate?

Example 1)

” Religion convinced the world that there's an invisible man in the sky who watches everything you do. And there's 10 things he doesn't want you to do or else you'll go to a burning place with a lake of fire until the end of eternity. But he loves you! ...And he needs money! He's all powerful, but he can't handle money.” -George Carlin

Example 2)

Do these two share the same fate?

The Levels of Hell comes from Dante's inferno, rather than any kind of biblical source.

I have heard of the work, but have not read it. Post #4 is at odds with your post?

No, it isn't...you went off on a tangent about salvation, not anything to do with hell...stick to the topic...

It points to the same work. However, the point I was making is that the concept comes from literature (that was partly political, partly religious), rather than a strictly Christian bible origin.

Well of course I had to mention salvation. CHRIST - Salvation is the key!
JESUS CHRIST! That's how you avoid punishments in Hell!

Who would want to go to hell - even if it has different levels?

I wasn’t speaking about the Bible, per se. Theoretically speaking; doesn’t seem fair for a “one size fits all.” If there is an afterlife......

I understand the words, but not sure what point you are making......I’m not convinced of an afterlife, but I am at the point where the finish line is more visible than the starting line....

Well, let's say you're a diehard athiest.... you fully expect that when you die, the lights go out and that's it. All she wrote. So if you can't even conceive of anything else, that's what you'll experience.

But let's say, for argument's sake, that there is an afterlife.... and that we have the capability to experience it. The first hurdle we have to overcome is to believe that it actually exists - that means we have to have faith on some level. If you have no faith of any kind, then you have nothing to build an afterlife with.

So if you do have faith, and you can cross that threshhold, then I think you become your own judge. What you experience depends on what you think you deserve to experience.

You want to know what hell is? I think it is believing in an afterlife and having a belief in God... but refusing to acknowledge your own wrongdoings. Then you consign yourself to an eternal afterlife that is bounded by the mortal experiences of a single lifetime. Only by accepting the wrongs you have done and seeking to atone for them can you grow beyond your mortal existence into what you need to be.

It all depends.. on 'what is hell'. There does not seem to be a clear definition anyplace. There is vague references to 'lake of fire', which is more imagery from the Egyptian book of the dead than the Jewish scriptures.

Atheist has negative connotations for me; agnostic is a little smoother sounding, imo.
Hedging bets a bit.....

One of the tools to keep the flock in compliance?

Combining paganism with the the truth of the Bible is never a good thing...you end up with contradictions/deceptions/lies...

I don’t want to get into a knock-down drag-out here, but there have been many of these in different religions since people tried to convert the ignorant masses.........

Which is one of Satan's tactics...to confuse the masses...he's done a bang-up job...:2razz:

I don't think it really matters all that much what particular religion someone happens to be - or even if you don't adhere to any religion at all - what anyone's relationship is with their Creator is nobody's business but their's alone. I guess that kind of makes me an agnostic myself.

But I do think if there is an afterlife - and if you believe in such a thing - the dictates of your own conscience will play a big role in what you experience there. Our conscience is what makes us different.

There is no punishment/torment in hell...hell is the grave...

Stay on topic. Look at the title.

DIFFERENT LEVELS OF HELL?

The premise of this thread is on the assumption that Hell exists. ;)

Anyway, you've already been proven wrong.

Hell is Real. John Bosco's Dream

You can't even give an answer to this question:

Why did God give explicit scary imagery of hell (numerous times), if it isn't true?

Either hell and eternal torment is true......or, God is telling a lie.

OR the hellfire doctrine is a pagan lie...

Anyone who was baptized with Christ - those who accept Him - has died with Him, and been set free from sin!

I really wish the more vocal Christians actually followed this. Sadly too many will claim the bolded not true if it isn't the way they believe.
