Wow, another one bites the dust.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is resigning, President Trump announced in a tweet Sunday. CBS News first reported Nielsen's impending departure, which Mr. Trump announced after a 5 p.m. meeting at the White House.

Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will serve as acting DHS secretary, the president announced.

"Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen will be leaving her position, and I would like to thank her for her service," Mr. Trump tweeted Sunday. "...I am pleased to announce that Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for @DHSgov. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!"

Why he can't keep people: Loyalty to Trump over loyalty to laws of the land.

The source notes President Trump‘s frustration with the current asylum laws, and his desire for individuals who work for the administration to block central American asylum seekers from entering the United States —- contrary to the laws on the books that allow their entry.

Sounds like Trump's looking for someone willing to shutdown the border (or similar) ...

Trump's policy of cruelty as a deterrent to illegal immigration has been an abject failure. In the 2 years he has been in office, illegal border crossings have gone up and are now at an 11 year high. Border news: Why illegal crossings are at an 11-year high, explained in 500 words - Vox

If you are concerned about illegal immigration, it helps electing someone that is actually competent.

Trump chumps don't want competent. They want dramatic. Trump knows this and obliges. He's the drama queen in chief.

....

Except that's not even true. He defecates on people who have been nothing but loyal to him. People who have sent their principles into freefall to conform with his goals for the country.

But he cuts them loose anyway because he's always trying to find someone else to blame for his epic incompetence. THAT is why he can't keep people. Because he always has to have a scapegoat. Maybe after he fires this person and that one (and that one and that one and that one ....), maybe then he won't be constantly humiliated. The eternal hope in the dank prison of his tortured mind.

She went damn close.

You know, I could see Trump picking him.

The reality is it doesn't matter who Trump picks as they will answer to Miller anyways.

In a recent Oval Office meeting, Trump told Miller he would be in charge of handling all immigration and border affairs, according to officials familiar with the meeting. Miller, who was a policy aide to then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) before joining the Trump presidential campaign, will play a key role in picking Trump’s third nominee to lead ICE, aides said.

See, that's the point; what Trump's doing is definitely not working. Things are getting worse.

And straight-up, I hate to say it, but if you wanted a wall, G.W. and Obama were the guys to call!

Looks like we found the leading candidate for Nielsen's replacement.
