It only took seven months into his Presidency but we are beginning to see the liberal Trump come out. You know the liberal he's been his whole life. He never had any intention of balancing the budget.

(CNN)President Donald Trump bucked his own party Wednesday and sided with Democrats to support a deal that would ensure passage of disaster relief funding as well as raising the debt ceiling and continuing to fund the government into December.

The interesting thing here is that Democrats basically used Harvey to get the debt limit increased. They swooned Trump so that he would endorse it and it would pass even while the Republicans were working on their own plan. Trump seemingly did not want to listen to anything they had to say. Republicans should now see all that Trump is not the Republican he claimed to be.

Here's Trump praising Conservative archenemies Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer:
"We had a very good meeting with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer," Trump told reporters Wednesday on Air Force One while traveling to North Dakota. "We agreed to a three-month extension on debt ceiling, which they consider to be sacred - very important - always we'll agree on debt ceiling automatically because of the importance of it."

He has never shown that much love to GOP party leaders. Ever.
"We essentially came to a deal, and I think the deal will be very good," he said. "We had a very, very cordial and professional meeting."

All smiles for Democrats. Especially if Trump decides to go ahead and accept a Democratic bill to replace DACA. What a weird thing for a Republican to do.

Hilarious, but no.
Just wait and see how this plays out before making any ridiculous assertions like that.

Enjoy your delusion...you can bet those oppositional GOP Elites won't be enjoying anything anytime soon.

Trump isn't getting trolled. He is using the Democrats to slap it to the GOP Elites. Those guys have shown that they are okay playing their games...meanwhile, the government shuts down, the Harvey victims suffer...nothing gets done. Trump isn't having it.

Trump has no problem putting those GOP Elites in a bad position...in fact, that's exactly what he wants to do. This is just another step.

btw, Trump has given no indication that he doesn't want some form of DACA passed by Congress. In fact, he's done everything he can to enable them to send him something.

It might be just another step.. but his steps seem to lead in a circle.

I don't think we should criticize Trump for this, I think we should praise him. The fact is, he cares deeply about his own popularity. If we use positive reinforcement when he does things we like, he'll keep doing things we like. Right now, the only people praising him are xenophobes.

We have an opportunity with this guy, he's easily influenced by public opinion. If we wise up, and start "leaking" reports of him doing things we like and then praising him for it. I bet he'll follow through and actually do it. This could be one of the few chances the people get to effect change in the government.

Imagine if Wall Street Journal released a "leaked' report stating Trump plans to introduce legislation that kills gerrymandering and sets up independent map drawers. And we all praised him for it. And then he did it. How great would that be...

I think it's hilarious seeing "hard-core" conservatives falling for traps set by Democrats.

You are confused.
1. I am no "hard-core" conservative.
2. There is no trap as you have envisioned. Like I said; "Just wait and see how this plays out before making any ridiculous assertions like that."

I said that the news media should have done something like that on April Fools.

This was predictable and, in fact, I predicted it before he won the election. Trump is not a republican. He has no loyalty to republicans and republicans have shown him that they cant deliver on anything. Trump wants to get things done. If republicans put bills on his desk, he will sign them. If democrats put bills on his desk, he will sign them. Anyone who is actually interested in bipartisanship have found the only guy willing to work with either side or both--Trump. If liberals could actually get over their hatred for the guy, they would find him quite useful for getting aspects of their agenda through.

And the Republicans will assume the position of Kevin Bacon in ANIMAL HOUSE and say "thank you sir , may I have another?"

Can you tell me why the Democrat bill that you are defending was better than the Republican Bill? As the article states, he wouldn't even listen to the Republican Bill. He just blindly accepted whatever the Democrats put in his face.

Republicans "own" Trump. I wish folks would stop associating him with the Dems.:lamo

Very smart. He wanted nothing to stand in the way of aid for Harvey victims. And you would, blame him for that.

I wonder how many conservatives can answer this question. Can you tell me why the Democrat bill that you are defending was better than the Republican bill? Furthermore, can you tell me what the Republicans were using for political leverage? Because from what I can tell the Democrats used the debt ceiling.

I'm sorry, did I defend either bill? No I did not. I simply pointed out the obvious--Trump wants wins. If republicans cant deliver and the dems can, he wont care.

You are defending it by supporting it. Republicans were delivering their own bill and Trump betrayed his own freaking party by not even reading that one. As a Republican, I would not consider that a win. Why do you?

I defended nothing and supported nothing. But I will say that Trump turning to dems is political genius.

Not even considering a Republican plan is political genius? Sure, if you were never a Republican to begin with, I guess it is. Since Conservative suckers will keep voting for you.

They sure look happy in the picture. What makes you think he didn't?
No, no no. That is not how this works. It is your claim that he did, support it.

It says in the article that Trump betrayed his own party and accepted the Democratic bill in full. If that is not giving the Dems everything they wanted. IDK what is.

How about because;
1. that is not everything they want; especially as "everything " is such a big basket.
2. nor did they actually get anything yet.

So again; Just wait and see how this plays out before making any ridiculous assertions like that.

You need an answer to that? You answered your own question. They were both going to use the same leverage. The Dems leverage was stronger. If you think Trump did the wrong thing? That he should have tied up Harvey funds playing partisan games? I don't know what to say. He did the exact right thing. Win. win. First time in a long time. Tomorrow is another day.
