Defiance

You mean Britain hasn't paid you back? News to me. So, how much do you think Britain still owes America?

Everything. Without America, Britain would no longer exist as an independent nation. Play all the silly games you desire, I know the truth hurts.

It was your war from the moment Hitler declared war against America in December 1941, around the same time that Japan attacked Pearl Harbour. Of course you could have just sat on your arses and ignored your ships being sunk by German U-boats (helped by being silhouetted against the bright coastal city lights you insisted on burning). By the way the P51 was used extensively as bomber escort from 1943 and excelled in this role; it was not designed for troop support but as a high-altitude fighter. It was first used in a ground attack role I believe during the Korean War.
As for your D-Day losses you simply got unlucky and landed on Omaha which was heavily defended. Obviously Britain's fault. Utah, on the other hand, was among the easiest where US losses were comparatively slight.
And yes, Montgomery for all his personal failings, was indeed a hero. Bernard Law Montgomery: Unbeatable and unbearable | National Army Museum

Appeasement allowed the rearmament of Germany. The Nazis sunk our ships because we were supplying you. The P-51 was designed for both high altitude fighting and ground troop support. It was nicknamed The Tank Buster. The only real heroes were the dead at the end of the war. Monte was just one more stuffed shirt. Just like DeGaulle, Patton and a slew of others.
