Debating People using links and videos... your evidence.. both sides have to take a look debate

One thing i notice about debating is that the other side is not willing to look at my links or videos.
I"d like to do debates with people where they have to watch and take a look at my side of the story and why I feel the way I do.
In return I will watch their evidence, etc to see why they feel the way they do.

And also do this via verbal debate somehow .. and be fun to start a youtube channel doing debates like this.

Anybody else think this a cool idea?

If anybody wants to do a debate pm me maybe. Can do via skype.

You can support any position, however absurd it might be, by citing links and videos. Is the Earth flat? Well, there are links saying it is. Was the moon landing faked? ditto. That's one reason people don't want to take the time to follow links. Another is the penchant some here have of posting a bunch of links without quoting any of them. That's totally ignorable. Another is confirmation bias: No one wants to read links that counter their world view.

If a person's entire argument is a link to another person's argument or a stupid youtube clip, then why should others bother if the poster can't make an actual argument themselves? I have no idea of that is the case with you as I'm not familiar with your posting habits, but I see way too many people think posting a link with nothing else is making an argument. If you can't make your own argument, why the hell should people bother finding your argument for you from other people's words.

Some people are so bad they basically might as well just put Google as there link- like saying "here, find my argument for me"


Links are there to support your claim if people want to dig further, not form the entire basis of an argument

I think using evidence to support an argument is important, but one thing that irritates me is when people try to link a 200 page report and declare "LOOK!" expecting others to read the entire thing. Then they say "You're just lazy/refuse to see the evidence!" when in reality most of us do not have time to read 200 pages to possibly not even find the evidence the person said was there.
 
It's my experience that if you want someone to watch your link they must first trust you as a member/poster and vise versa.

I thought when I came here it would be a great site for information from all sides, I've come to learn there are few, very few level headed members here and many egomaniacs.

If you are looking for a civilized debate it is my opinion you need to find someone here that is reasonable and willing to see things from some other perspective then their own, then take the conversation private to debate the real issues, otherwise you will drown in ignorant rants from others (possibly including me).

Well if one link has alot of science and other have only opinions it becomes pretty obvious.
Also people need to be open minded and look at both sides.
How else can u your really debate or convince people. I have changed many minds over the years by talking about things with people and showing them new facts that the Left Wing Media will never report. The left wing media absolutely does not report on certain facts or issues or studies.
You will see what i mean if willing to do a debate with me.

Sadly, the vast majority of people are not rational. You won't get a rational debate.

Then people are largely wise not to follow your links or look at your videos IMO. Sounds like you're trying to push viewers to sites.

If you can't put it in your own words, that's not debate, that's spreading propaganda, trying to up viewership on videos, SPAM, etc.

If you can't put it in words with clear, distinct "claims", that make it easy to read, and debate those specific positions, then you probably don't know enough about the issues to really debate them.

For normal debate purposes you can link them as the "source" of your factual claims, for example, but if you just hold up a sign that says "see this other persons video", then no one is going to debate an entire video, from someone who isn't even on the forums.

yeh i try to keep it short with certain links on internet and short vids to show my side.

I am just showing people why I belive the way I do from the info that i've collected about politics.
The truth is many people have never seen many famous political speakers out there.
For example do you know who Stefan Moly is? He's the most viewed poltiical talker on yotube, look it up, yet the media hides him from the public because they do not like the things he says. But he is the most popular and successful poltiical personality in the world of social media!! think about this if it was a Left Wing person that had achieved this type of success he would get tons of interviews on Cnn etc

Where in the world you got me being scared from must have been pulled from a members ass. I simply said trying to debate here is stupid most times as most here are too stupid to realize how stupid they sound.

Lol your hilarious. We have not even debated yet and you already accussing somebody of lying? numbers out of their ass? U must have a low iq to act like that to be honest.

The way i'm trying to conduct a debate is the most logical and takes many hours over time.

So anyways everybody is scared to do some debating with me it seems in this manner?

toby, you've got 15 posts and have posted one link, a 17 minute video. So "links or videos" doesn't really apply. Also, you need to make a clear point and back it up. If your point is "hey the guy in this video says things I believe" few people will listen.
