I started to see modern feminism back 1984-1985 as I lived with a gaggle of self professed radical dyke feminists at the Hedrick House co-op at Michigan State University. They liked me enough to invite me to hang out with them at the gay bars where they often met up with the fellow radical dyke feminsts, many of whom lived at the other housing co-ops. I was a liberal then you see, a self professed feminist with a somewhat radical bent myself as I was getting deep into Zen at that point which was a ****ing radical thing to do in 1984.... anyways one of the feminists I lived with took a real interest in me, we had a thing were we would go together to listen to folk music artists, her girlfriend who also lived in the house did not like that sort of thing plus she was a Vet student and had time issues because that was a demanding field of study. What I am telling you is that I was on the inside way back then, I know damn well what I am talking about, I listened as they talked amoungst themselves on where they wanted feminism to go, I listened to how much hate they had for men generally....and then over the years I watched feminism go exactly in the direction they had wanted to go. By the early 90's the radical dyke contingent of the feminist movement had won, the conservatives and all other non-conformist to their ideology were driven out.

"We've lost the South for a generation."

Indeed, it appears we lost it for all eternity but if one looks back, the South has been a lost cause for 160 some odd years, and we only had the South as long as other Democrats in the East, West and North looked the other way. That became impossible finally, and that's when your ilk abandoned the Democratic Party, as any student of real history already knows.

Yes indeed, in the 1860's the Democrats WERE the conservative racist party and the Republicans WERE the liberal party, the party of Lincoln.
But as anyone who observes history knows, political parties undergo drastic shifts in ideology all the time, often several times over several generations.

The key to all of this is that people recognize the fact that liberalism requires an open mind with regard to matters of race, creed and color, and thus demands the courage to BE "liberal" in the acceptance and tolerance of our differences, whereas conservatism teaches fear of the new and different with regard to same.

Fair enough, but it appears to be a gender based issue. When courts favor one gender over another in rulings that's an issue.
