Episode one of Picard was pretty good.
It’s the least Star Treky of all the Star Trek series. Kind of like Borne Identity with a bit of Blade Runner. It’s better than I thought it would be.
Glad you are enjoying MESSIAH.
I can sympathize with your economic woes about expensive cable. What ticks me off is that in the last two years my cable carrier has taken away the MGM movie channel, all the Cinemax channels and a few others. I used to get them all but now they are gone or I have to pay more for them. In two years I have seen my bill rise 35 dollars and get less for it.
As for newspaper subscriptions , it is aggravating. I pay for the NY Times because I want to support them but that is it.
HBO has had two seasons of SUCCESSION of ten episodes each year.
btw - have you seen PEAKY BLINDERS?
Picard season 1- watched the first episode. It was okay. A huge plothole at the back of my mind was thankfully explained away near the end so it made it good. Just feels weird that the show would be featuring a character who largely stayed in the Enterprise, so seeing him go off into space in the following episodes without that starship will be weird. 6/10

I'm happy to see Jeri Ryan has aged well.

Is Picard on Amazon Prime? I thought it was the new paying CBS streaming service.
So I'm looking forward to Picard...is the whole season available for streaming yet or just the first 2 episodes?
If all arent out yet, I'll wait to renew my CBS Online subscription. I let it lapse after I finished ST: Discovery.
Another one I like on CBS Online is The Good Fight, spin off off The Good Wife. That 3rd season should be coming up soon.
Picard streams one episode per week, so it might be advisable for you to wait until its done.![]()
It streams on Amazon Prime outside of the US, otherwise you need CBS.
It's a matter of cost, Pete. In the US there are plenty of streaming services, and subscribing to all of them is very expensive in the long run- especially if you get a service just to watch one show.Ooh come on, we can watch old school from time to time.
Youre right. Just watched episode 2 and its not bad at all. I dunno why but I always have low expectations of anything Trek nowadays, but thankfully this show is proving me wrong. The first episode felt like Jason Borg, this one is better and I hope it keeps up with the quality. Episode 2 rating: 7.5/10I just watched the second episode and I think Picard is growing into something really impressive.
I have an American Amazon Prime account. What would happen if I used that log in but from a VPN proxy simulating presence in a foreign country? Would I get it to stream? I don't feel like subscribing to still another paying service like CBS.

Thankfully I live outside of the US so I can get all of the shows I want since Netflix carries the stuff thats on minor services like Sundance, Hulu, CBS, Disney, and the like. But not everybody gets that advantage.

One thing though, why would Picard use tea bags when he has a replicator?
Wow! Still smoking hot, if not even hotter!
Because tea from a pot of well boiled water sounds a lot more appetizing than electronically created tea. He is a bit old school too now that he lives on his orchard.
But tea bags are silly- its a reflection of cheapness, even during this time. If he really wanted to be old fashioned then why not use an infuser or even a French press? :2razz:
And why does it feel like the Romulans are now sort of like refugees? Their empire was as big as the Federation, and so even if their homeworld went nova, surely they had other colonies, right?

they are refugees, and who knows how many are left.
Hanging in there with TWD/FTWD but the three shows I really REALLY enjoyed are on hiatus right now:
1) Better Call Saul (we both were HUGE Breaking Bad fans)
2) Shameless (US version - not the lame UK original)
3) Ray Donovan
I may give Colony a try but Carlton Cuse pissed me off with the wrapup/finale of Lost SOOOOOO much...
As you might guess, I get a real kick out of shows that center around life as a train wreck for a main character and their families.
