Current TV Series You'd Like To Recommend

Are you a rocket scientist? Because they interviewed real ones, and they seem to disagree with you.

Context is everything.

I noticed things that were simply not real in that show, when it comes to physics. How well do you understand physics?

Do you really think the guy who repaired the ship while landing could have held on during the tremendous G-forces when the rockets fired?

Do you think he was Super-Man?

Physics is not my field.
But then, the show is half documentary, but half science FICTION.
Still, I think the documentary part is probably factual. Why would all those experts be lying on screen?
And the guy didn't exactly hold on. He died from the injuries received. That's the problem with watching only two episodes.

Yes, the documentary part is fantastic. I would be far more interested if they also employed accurate science. He held on far longer than humanly possible, and should have died on impact.

“The First”, a Hulu original, about the mission to send the first humans to Mars, starring Sean Penn. Very deep. Well done.

The Bodyguard on Netflix is truly remarkable. One of the best series I've seen in years. Very tense and suspenseful, very good actors, captivating story and characters (unlike the similar Collateral - I couldn't really relate to those characters).

Berlin Station on EPIX.

All three seasons.

I tried a few episodes of that- I didnt like it. Uninteresting characters and slow story. I think The Bureau is way better- more realistic.

I watched 2 episodes of the Umbrella Academy- it's okay though somewhat slow when it comes to the actual plot. I'll watch a few more episodes and decide if I want to continue or not.

The Patriot on Amazon. God how I love this show. Its basically an off the books CIA secret ops guy placed into working at a piping company so his father can get money to Iran to fund a more friendly candidate, but it is also the darkest comedy ever. Its about assassinations, folk music, splim valves, brothers, duck hunting, corporate america and so much absurdity. Incredibly original, an darkly funny. Watch it. Stars Kurtwood Smith (That 70's Show) and Terry O'Quinn (Lost), and the lead is Michael Dornan, who plays the lead as a jaded, unhappy, reluctant operative.

Season two is out now, and even more amazing.

Man in the High Castle: Revisionist history with lots of twists.
Kingdom: sort of a fusion of Walking Dead and Game of Thrones set in medieval Korea.
Marvelous Mrs Maisel: first episode is a bit bland but really picks up after that, about a woman whos personal life become a mess and brings out the comedic genius inside.
Santa Clarita Diet: Ok I like zombies but this one is just hilarious, even my wife loves this and she definitely isn't into zombies.

I watched the whole season.
Rather enjoyed it. What I really liked was the less than standard "powers" of the heroes. Some of them seem rather useless but they manage to do some interesting stuff with them. As to storyline it is almost as much about their dysfunctional family as it is about trying to save the world. I think this helped out the characters a lot and made it more than just an oddball superhero show.

Saw this one and enjoyed it but my wife and I stopped watching about halfway through the season. Not sure why, maybe well take it up again

You need to go half way at least before the "other shoe drop" and you realize what is going on. Sadly this is a trend most marvel or DC related TV series and it kills them.

Well, it gets even better in the second half of the season, so, yes, you should try again.

Derry Girls. comedy about a group of schoolgirls growing up amid the Northern Ireland "Troubles" in the 1990's. Sounds unlikely but really funny. Now on series 2.

True Detective Season 3
- OK, its not as bad as Season 2, but its not as good as the phenomenal season 1 either. The problem is that the plot is somewhat slow and keeps jumping from one flashback to the next, and it all becomes convoluted, plus it kills any sort of suspenseful buildup. Just as it seems there are answers to the questions, the scenes shift into a different moment in time. It would have been better if they just put a linear narrative into it instead of jumping back and forth over a 30 year period. 5/10

Russian Doll. Takes the Groundhog Day concept to fresh places.

OK, I finished The Umbrella Academy- and the ending is meh. So-so overall. 5/10

I Am the Night (TV Mini-Series 2019) - IMDb - a disgraced reporter and a girl who is looking for her true mother team up in Los Angeles in the mid 60's. It's loosely based on the memoirs of a real life woman who was raised as a mixed race child and the infamous Black Dahlia murder that remains unsolved to this day. I was intrigued because I happen to be distantly related to one of the suspects of that murder case so I watched it all. Although the production values are great and really reminded me of LA Confidential, the story really falls flat because it doesnt seem to know what it wants to be- the plot switches from a girl's coming of age during the racism and corruption of LA to a murder thriller mystery, and it does this back and forth. In the end, it's a mess, though the visuals are nice. 4.5/10

Kingdom (TV Series 2019– ) - IMDb - I just started watching this, and oh man does it look intriguing. Set in ancient Korea its full of courtly intrigue like Game of Thrones, but there's also zombies thrown into the mix! If you're okay watching foreign tv shows and an all-Asian cast then its pretty good. I'll give it an overall rating when I finish the 6 episodes.

Ditto for "The Kingdom". Gorgeously shot (they dumped a lot of cash into the look of it), great Falstaffian sidekick and believable hero.

The ending at the last episode is a damned cliffhanger if there ever was one, and I won't spoil it.

I just finished the last episode of season 1. Damn its pretty good, the best show of the new year so far. Way better than TWD. Since they already renewed it I cant wait till the next season.

Great surprise ending, tho, eh?

Quite a miscalculation on the good guys part.

Im actually surprised they thought of a plan in that final battle since the protagonists kept getting hit by one crisis after another. I like it a lot because its only 6 episodes, so the action is fast and furious and there's no filler time, unlike the other TV shows thats out there.

Guess what got confirmed to continue this year!!!! DRAGON BALL SUPER!!!! If you're new, here's some trailers. Highly recommended!!!
