Could Trump pardon Kavanaugh?

If he was involved in formulating the Bush Administration's detainee policies... either in the White House Counsel's office or as Staff Secretary to the President, and then subsequently ruled on cases challenging those same policies, then not only did he perjure himself during his confirmation hearings, but he was also acting improperly by ruling on cases challenging those same policies that came before the DC Circuit.

IF IF IF IF There MIGHT be a crime, and if we INVESTIGATE EVERYTHING we MIGHT MAYBE FIND A CRIME!!! WE CANNOT LEAVE ANYTHING TO CHANCE!!!

Unless of course the accused is a Democrat, in which case there really isn't anything there, it is just partisan right wing lies move along...

Ohhh Boy... this is rich coming from a Republican.

Explain to me exactly how the investigation of a failed land deal in Arkansas led to asking the President about receiving a blow-job in the Oval Office. Or what was the fallout from all of the rage and tearing of hair over Benghazi and the Clinton e-mail server?

All I'm seeking is for a Congressional-appointed Special Counsel to investigate the Bush White House records that the Republicans didn't see fit to release for the confirmation hearings. Have someone investigate the extent of Kavanaugh's involvement in the detainee policy debate, the Manny Ramirez incident, etc. and then compare that to the answers he gave to the Senate Judiciary committee in both his DC Circuit and Supreme Court nomination hearings. That's it. Plain and simple.

My own personal assessment is that Kavanaugh lied to the committee about the Ford accusations. I found her to be far more believable. Of course, other people - like yourself, I assume - called it the other way. Fair enough. He said, she said. There's probably not enough evidence after all these years to prove it one way or the other. But I figure it this way... if he lied about that, then the odds are pretty good he lied about other things as well - things that could potentially be far more verifiable. The fact that the Republicans withheld so much of Kavanaugh's documentary evidence doesn't exactly do much to allay that suspicion.

So why not have Congress appoint someone like Patrick Fitzgerald to go in there and search through the Bush Administration records pertaining to Kavanaugh? That way we could settle things one way or the other, could we not?

They're psychopaths! Just look at this writer for Colbert - it makes me cringe. Maybe she's not human.

"Whatever happens, I'm just glad we ruined Brett Kavanaugh's life."

Where's the outrage??? Why isn't Dumas fired for this? We've seen Roseanne fired, right?
I can't help but wish that this so-called, "what goes around, comes around," happens in her lifetime.

I feel sorry for whoever guy she hooks up with. If she can say such thing to someone who hasn't done her anything.....what more to a man who's crossed her?
Men should beware of this woman - there's lots of venom in her system.
I seriously think she's a psychopath.

I won't be surprised if Colbert defends and sticks by her. I think he's a psychopath, too!

Are you trying to say that one person represents the entire left?

To many the Kvanaugh placement on SCOTUS is not over. If more witnesses come forward and there is sufficient evidence of wrong doing, could Tump just say i pardon him for anything he did wrong in the past and thus keep him on the court?

I don't think the democrats will manufacture more phony witnesses and accusers, unless they take the senate in the upcoming mid-terms and have the power to impeach him.

.

Where did you get that?

When you said "They're psychopaths!" and then posted about a single person. That implies that one person represents the group.

Some of these posts just keep getting nuttier and nuttier

Welcome how to the rest of us felt reading posts from most of the people on the right since about 2007....

Every single accusation against a conservative is met with spittle-flecked rants about vast liberal conspiracies to victimize conservatives, the other half of the country.

Bro.

Conservatives are REAL TOUGH GUYS.

Don't you know this?

Completely authentic, honest, and real 100% badasses. No compensation.

Kavanaugh and Trump are only a portion of the alpha specimen they model.

All 9 of those traits point right to Trump and the GOP.

Lol. It's the Democrats - and their mindless sheeples who are ruining lives.

Let's stick to this issue.

Ridiculous - Kavanaugh hasn't been found guilty of any crime, so there's nothing to pardon him for. Presidential pardons have nothing to do with Congress or what it can vote on, and it's Congress which has the power to impeach. Technically, as long as they have the votes, they can impeach POTUS or SCOTUS-justices for any reason, even if it's a BS one. But they need a two-thirds majority.

Well, so far we don't have any evidence that Kavanaugh was guilty of even one sexual assault. Funny though how you guys talked nonstop about impeaching Trump and now you're worried that Trump will pardon an impeached Kavanaugh. You guys really are totally lost, aren't you? The CT forum is farther down.

So far there are not federal crimes and there are no state crimes to be investigated.
have a nice day.

How many more PKCS threads (Post Kavanaugh Confirmation Syndrome) will we be treated to here at DP?

look at how many TDS threads get posted here daily.

There's a lot more to this guy than meets the eye... if there wasn't, then I'd imagine the Republicans would have been forthcoming with his White House documents. Kind of like the President and his tax returns.

Actually there isn't. Plenty of documents were released. before the liberal melt down he was one of the most respected justices on the 9th court.
He legal reputation is stellar.

he was a perfect fit for the court. this is nothing more than sore loser syndrom.
there is 0 evidence to support that he is some deviant sexual gang rapist.

To say otherwise is just a partisan hack being mad.

.

there is no way they are getting 67 seats in the senate.
also they are now expecting to lose at least 3 more seats in the senate after this debacle.
the other thing is they could still not gain the house because of this.

They pushed all in on this battle (not one they should have) but they did it anyway only to find
out the otherside was holding a royal flush while they where bluffing.

In the hearing, an emotional Kavanaugh had lamented, "I’m never going to get my reputation back. It’s – it – my life is totally and permanently altered."

Psychopath Ariel Dumas, writer for Late Show with Stephen Colbert had tweeted, "I'm just gad we ruined
Brett Kavanaugh's life."

Here's psychopath Colbert's response regarding psychopath Ariel Dumas' tweet!

Colbert stated, "Please, save your indignation that finally, someone is taking one woman's accusation of sexual assault seriously."

Those two are a pair made in hell.
Maybe, these two need some real life lessons - such as experiencing the same - then maybe, Dumas wouldn't be revelling in other's pain - and, Colbert wouldn't be applauding and abetting it.

The appropriate question would be: could Kavanaugh pardon all those who caused him such pain?

Wouldn't it beat all, if from being more centrist - Kavanaugh becomes secretly radicalized against Democrats and their supporters?

The Constitution gives the power to the president to pardon anyone he so chooses except himself. Article II, Section 2. There's been uproars over presidential pardons before and I assume if Trump did this, there would be an uproar about the pardon.

It is also my understanding that impeachment is the only way to remove a judge off the SCOTUS. Article III states the judges shall hold their offices during good behavior. It's my understand that the good behavior only applies to the time in office, not before. I could be wrong, I'm certainly no Constitutional Lawyer.

Which brings up another question, can a president, judge, whomever be impeached for something done prior to coming to office? Constitutional lawyers disagree on this. Some say yes, some no. So until it happens or the SCOTUS rules on it, who knows?

There is no criminal charge against Kavanaugh and such a presidential action would have no effect one way or another by an impeachment action, which is never going to happen anyway.
