Constitutional carry now in effect in Oklahoma.

what common ground/ we want to own and use guns and we vote against those who push gun control that impacts our rights. They want to ban guns and pander to the sheeple by passing gun bans. In fact, I believe many of the leaders of the anti gun movement are motivated mainly about punishing pro gun voters

so what is the common ground?

The common ground is: Having the right to carry a concealed firearm, and in return making sure that those who choose to do so have been trained in firearm safety.

OK I understand that. but I noted I don't have problems with an objective training requirement for CCW

I don't think any court will apply the second amendment to a state law that requires a permit to carry concealed. The second amendment prohibitions come to play if a state bans both concealed and open carry or requires a permit to do either. A law that permits open carry without a license but requires a permit for concealed carry will-IMHO-not be found conflicting with the McDonald Incorporation. However, i believe that the Shall issue states will ultimately face court interference since "shall issue" reeks of arbitrary and capricious infection.

Too much legalese. I was just disappointed not finding Texas on the list of 16. That would eliminate the fees that I pay to maintain my license to carry.

And I hope it stays that way, but I don't believe that it will.

Why? What information do you have that leads you to believe that the status quo for nearly the past 10 years will suddenly change?

It only takes one incident.

What do you mean by that? What only takes one incident?

Open law enforcement and national guard training to public participation.

“A well regulated militia...”

Why risk going this way when you can meet in the middle? Permit carry is a good compromise.

There is a lot of fake news out there. Permit journalism is a good compromise. Lots of bad religion. Permit religions is a good compromise. I could go on.

There are a lot of us who do not consider permitting a natural right to be a good compromise.

Kansas has both open carry and concealed carry, no permit required. So long as you can legally own a firearm. Today, the guy at the next table over had an 1873 Colt on his hip and nobody batted an eye. This was in a rural area. Most of the gun crime in this state is in the two bigger cities, and mostly gang related. I think nationwide if you take the gang stats out of the equation there isn't that much gun crime.

It’s almost like there is a specific culture associated with gun violence. [emoji848]

Lovely bit of craftsmanship. ;)

1873 Colt.... Like some of the other guys in the restaurant, I was wondering whether it was original or reproduction.

I used to do that when I was five. I was always the cowboy. :)

Inner city gang culture. Where the actual gun violence is happening. [emoji849]

they don't vote against anti gun democrats so they are not the target of Democrat crafted gun laws

Look at bump stocks. They were status quo legal for longer than 10 years, and now they are illegal. And it only took one tragic incident for a wave of anti-gun hysteria to lead to their outlawing.

If it is a requirement before a civilian is granted a permit to conceal and carry, I think this would be a good idea.

Then you risk losing that natural right. You once had a right to own a bump stock. You no longer have this right because of one idiot.

good chance that will get thrown out by the courts given the way it was "enacted".

which is why we need to elect people who will appoint judges who actually understand the constitution.

Good luck with that. What if we don't? Isn't it better to play nice and meet in the middle than to have the attitude of "my way or the highway?" Conservatives don't have the cards to go all in anymore. They will continue to regret digging in their heels when their children and grand children start voting.

The NFA is clearly unconstitutional as is the 86 hughes amendment. tell us what other areas you want gun owners to compromise on.

I have said for years there will be a civil war over guns eventually. When it is over, the anti gun movement will no longer exist, I suspect.

What if it isn't?

The 86 Hughes amendment is clearly unconstitutional. If the idiotic ban on automatics went away, so would bump stocks. The 86 Hughes amendment is what created that silly toy
