Conservatives mount a whisper campaign smearing Khashoggi in defense of Trump

Liberals dont have answers. They are simply going to criticize anything Trump does, no matter what it is. The truth is, there is nothing we can do about it.
That's true of political pundits but I want to know what our resident progressives want to see done. The Saudis now have made an official statement that he was killed in their embassy.

What now?
They want a strong speech condemning them
The way sanctions
Declare war
What's the appropriate response?

Not sell the Saudis weapons to use against journalists would be one thing.
Not selling them arms, OK
Anything else or is that enough?

So this guy was purported to have been killed by the Saudi Arabian government in the Saudi embassy in Turkey? Why again should this one individual cause the president to change policy toward Saudi Arabia? Because he was a journalist? He was not an American citizen. Should we change foreign policy every time a person from another country is killed in another country by another country's government, or is this just a special case to use as a hit on the president?
Journalists make a big out of fellow journalists being harmed. Thing is I want to hear from the left in congress. Trump should invite them into the Oval Office and put them on the spot.

And I should care...why?

Why should any right wing horse manure believer care? They probably don't, and that makes sense.

I.e., massive tax breaks for the rich, and when it then causes intake shortfalls in the treasury, their new
budget entails massive cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, etc, therefore transferring billions from the needy to those who are not needy, otherwise known as the top 1%.

The dont care about those who are struggling, they only want the rich to be richer, and the poor to be poorer.

Jeezus keerist repubs are stupid.

Oh, I know, the rich pay most of the taxes.

Ahhh, but they pay FAR LESS as a percentage of their wealth than middle class does.

They should, therefore, not pay part of the tax burden, they should pay ALL OF IT. They are the only one's really benefitting from the system, which is, of course, rigged for them, given that THEY are making the laws.

WTFU

Most of that has to do with the hubris of journalists. They are a very self important bunch.

I'll just wait for the facts...thanks.

The guy"s connection to the MB is well established. Nothing about the Saudis change that.

So what? Why does it matter? It's Ok for one set of terrorist-connected people to kill and dismember him because Khashoggi also has 'connections' to terrorists? If that's the argument, explain. If not, why do we care?

Well, these actions are deplorable. We have an intrepid journalist murdered by the royal dictator family and all the apparatchiks in the Republican Party and their cronies in the right-wing media want to do is shield Trump from any and all criticism of his handling of this matter, which includes backing the royal dictators of Saudi Arabia.

Wishpering? No, they're saying it out loud. Khasshoggi is Muslim Brotherhood and a fellow traveler of Osama bin Laden. It's Al Qaeda, Iran, and the Muslim Brotherhood up against Israel, the US, and Saudi Arabia. No surprise there which side the Washington Post is on.

Calm down. Your heart will thank you.

Yes. Why does it matter?

Not to mention it's brown people and they don't care about them unless they have access to a voting booth

Yeah..it's "Trump's Fault".

Squabbles between islamists are hardly reason for the US to change our foreign policy.

Where was all this OUTRAGE when Nick Berg was beheaded? Oh yeah...the SAME LYING LEFT BLAMED BUSH for it....

As you might know, we killed the guy responsible for Nick Berg's death. You can see a picture of his dead body at wiki if you want.

You're blaming the left somehow for being upset that an "ally" assassinated a permanent U.S. resident and U.S. based journalist? Have you missed the Republicans who somehow in the Trump era have maintained a shred of decency who are also upset with our supposed ally, and MbS in particular?

My god, it's amazing - objecting to our own being assassinated by an ally is now somehow objectionable.

And Trump is the f'ing President. This is HIS job. What you ought to be waiting on is his response.

I'm thinking that Trump should invite MbS over for a round of golf, and they can exchange a few laughs. What do you think?

Seriously, what's the harm if Saudi gets the green light for targeted assassination of journalists from the U.S. who criticize the Saudi royal family. It's just business, so let's make it official and emblazon a big damn gold TRUMP sign on Reagan's "shining city on a hill" to let the world what this country stands for now.

When you are done ranting about Trump, how about you tell us what you would like to see him do about this.

The only thing i said is the left should voice what they believe the appropiate response is.

These reports are ridiculously amateurish rumors not fit to be presented as news.

To quote the great philosopher, John McEnroe, "You cannot be serious!"

I didn't even know who the guy was until he was mentioned.

when they said he was captured and possibly killed. I was like well he probably stuck his nose where it doesn't belong.
they have every strict rules over there and people are expected to follow them to the letter.

This guy was playing with fire by entering the embassy over there from my understanding. if he was caught snooping into something
he shouldn't have been caught snooping in then well he knew the risks for doing what he was doing.

if they considered him a spy more the worse.
there is little that trump can do about it.

I believe his sin was, as you suggest, actively working against the monarchy by using his position as a WAPO columnist to endorse an Islamic "democracy" for Saudi Arabia like has been the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood.
That's not where the S.A. monarchy was going.
So that got him allies in Turkey & Qatar & factions within S.A. (not to mention factions within the US government for various reasons) ... and enemies within the S.A. monarchy.
Helluva way to meet your end though.

Seems to me the best way for this to resolve itself would be what the Saudis are trying to do now.
Tough to do but, come up with the best story that can be grudgingly accepted for lack of evidence otherwise.
Then the USA & the Saudis can go back to using each other for their own domestic and strategic interests.

More whispering, but at least it's glossier than the Saudi direct lies.

Trump supporters will believe anything their betters tell them. We've seen that over and over again. Have we not?

Not providing cover for the murderers would be a start.

He hasnt done that, so see if you can come up with a real response. But you live in the UK. What are you guys planning on doing about it?
