Colorado Body Slam: Cleared of Wrong Doing

Over simplification, but mostly correct. When dealing with a police officer in the performance of their duties you need to follow their instructions, do not resist, and damned sure do not physically assault or attack the officer. If they perform an illegal search, the court will throw it out. If they place you under arrest without probable cause, then they will be reprimanded and you will be released, and you may even be able to sue them and the government for damages (1st Amendment - "the right of the people...to petition the Government for a redress of grievances".). And there are many other examples. However, if you wish to question the authority of the officer with force and resistance, then you'll get put to the ground and forcibly restrained, and whatever happens at that point is your fault.

But the consequences of being an asshole to citizens never really materialize.

So they **** up you day for purely personal, asshole reasons, and you take it.

Or else.

Hell. Not acting like you like how you're being treated can get you touched up now.

And if you file a complaint?

Bupkis.

There was a time people put up with that, not anymore.

The problem is, there's a lot people still living in the past and think they can just abuse anyone they want.

They're finding out that you can do that to the wrong individual.

I agree. See my feelings on Zimmerman. But let's put it this way...what is your response to someone persistently attacking you if they are a girl? Are you going to let them hit you? Now. Keep in mind this person was also interfering with the investigation. So the officer puts her down to arrest her...and her being a drunk in platform heals? Doesn't bode well for her.

I would have done the same thing. A quick throw to end the stand up fight and control her ass.

Of course there are lots of ways to take someone down.

Doing maximum harm is optional. A little "street justice".

I'd bet a study of officers who act like assholes would reveal general powerlessness in their home lives. Shrew wives, etc.

That's how it is in the real world.

My father was the type who would kill you with kindness, then logic, then followed by sarcasm :lamo

If that didn't work, you didn't want what followed.

You are the one trying to judge a man by the actions of...wait for it...SOMEONE ELSE. You think that is acceptable? Do you think that would stand in court? You know it wouldn't. You also know...practically and logically speaking...the chief has nothing to do with this incident. His ass was at home asleep when the incident transpired. Hell..even if he was working he would be behind a desk and not handling this incident till it hit the press. That's how chain of comman works.

Should you be held responsible for actions of your corrupt boss?

Police Chiefs are held accountable for piss poor acts performed by their Officers. Just how it works.
Now care to bring it down a notch??

Like I said...this went through the courts. And now they are prosecuting her. I suspect the video doesn't matter to you. He is a cop. Ergo he is guilty.

Again you assume, and yet again you are wrong.

In Chicago, they are beginning prosecution for the Cops who Lied and Falsified records about the Cop who shot an unarmed Black Teen 16 times in the middle of the street, on Video with dozen of Cops and citizens watching.

Yes I posted a thread on that.

Its hard to be a dick to a reasonable, patient cop.

Those who understand that what is happening to someone they're interacting with may suck for them, a lot. That they might be irritated or angry about it.

A lot of it is the new training. They are actually taught to dominate and bully and intimidate.

Nobody likes it, and they respond with violence if you express that at all.

And there's no need. Most of the time.

It's your choice as to how you act in public, and when police are around.

And they are allowed to choose to be douchebags without consequence.

Which clearly isn't just.

That it doesn't matter what is on video? I have been in this forum long enough to know that the bleeding hearts will always bleed. Doesn't matter what happens.

So you are allowed to prevent an officer from doing their job and then physically assault them? That's ok by you?

This is crap. Most departments are scared of being sued.

Reality is that it is easy to be a dick when you are an out of control drunken entitled bitch.

What Community do you live in?

One with a great police department. One of the few that isn't suffering shortages because they get support from the community. But even they get bull**** from the national media when they shoot someone who holds an airsoft gun like a real weapon threatening people. Doesn't matter though. Nationwide Trend...number of officers is down.

You are justifying assaulting officers? And ignoring the consequences of her assaulting an officer? Love it. They had witness statements and body cams.

Not a bleeding heart- Nor one that hates police, a number of friends including family are police. So yet again your perception needs some, I was going to say fine tuning, but you need more than that.

So again you fail and the reason is I like facts, hard facts, not insults, not innuendo, not stating the Chief is just another Officer as you did and trying to sweep lawsuits under his leadership, his direction under the mat, not the crap you have been flinging my way but facts. but you revert to insults and crap posts, attacking the poster, not the points made.
Did I say you failed, let me clarify that, a massive fail.

So you are allowed to prevent an officer from doing their job and then physically assault them? That's ok by you?

So cops should be allowed to be as big an asshole as they please?

That's OK by you?

The fault for the current situation lies fully on the drug war.

The feedback loop caused an arms race, which made policing more dangerous, which justified more militarization, which resulted in the bullyboy mindset we see in police today.

The current attitudes towards police are really the result of too many people knowing someone who was grossly mistreated by the police and them never being held accountable for it.

When the nice person you know gets roughed up or killed and you know good and well it was abuse or murder, how are you supposed to react? When you know cops lie about things because you were there and saw it?

None of this happened in a vacuum.

"Just shut up and take it" doesn't wash in a purportedly free society where innocence is supposed to be presumed.

Which is why they never hold cops responsible.

Because they would have to pay damages if they did.

Just call it a good shoot.

Instruct the jury, if any, to hand down a not guilty verdict.

Easy peasy.

More money for tanks! Whoopee!

This is ridiculous.

This is ONE case. You can't blame it on the drug war.

You need to go back to the case facts. Cops were there for an altercation. Surat' boyfriend was being cuffed and escorted out (but not charged). She tried to interfere after getting kicked out and making a nuisance of herself. She assaulted the officer in front of witnesses and on body camera.

The 9 seconds you have seen are from someone who didn't start recording till after the incident started (as usual this removed context).

You are telling me I don't want consequences? I would put dirty cops on death row. But I'm also not a bleeding heart ***** who wants to blame the drug war for a drunken Sorostitute college girl doing what they do best: acting like an entitled nut bag whose behavior has no impact on how they deserve to be treated by others.

Guess what happens to someone who attempts to scratch me or bite or strike me? If I'm bigger? I put them down. Hard. I'm not risking them doing anything else TOO anyone else. That was this officer's job. Deal with the threat and arrest her. Good job. Maybe next time she won't take that last skittles shot and start acting a fool in the club?

This is one case where I'm glad the cop was exonerated. The video was obviously selectively edited.

Huh? It sure doesn't look like that to me... Based on that video, hard to believe he was returned to duty.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. This is more nonsense about how we need to take guns and Kevlar and cars and arrest powers from cops. You aren't even on the topic anymore.
