College Football 2018-2019 Season

I thought it was classy. We need more of that sort of sportsmanship.

Agreed. Alabama had control of the game and Saban saw no need to rub Oklahoma's nose in it. He does not care about the betting world. As a rule, in most games, when Alabama gets effective control of a game, he starts putting in second and third stringers in to get playing time.

As much as I rooted against him when facing FSU, I have to admit Urban was rare air. He is dangerous on the sideline, or in the box!
GO 'NOLES!!!!!(aka Wait till next year)

CP

As an Alabama fan, I rooted against him as well, especially when he was coaching the Florida Gators, however I certainly gave him respect. He has three national championships including one at OSU.

If Tua is really 100 % you may be right. Do you think he is? If not, how is 'Bama's second string QB? Bear in mind, Clemson's defense may cause a switch early.

CP

Bama's back up quarterback, Jalen Hurts is excellent. He is much improved this season. He was always a running threat, much like Kyler Murray of Oklahoma, however in the off season he developed well as a passer. And it was Jalen as a starter last year that beat Clemson in the semi-final. I am sure Clemson will try to prepare for both quarterbacks.

Oh no!!!! I grant Harbaugh is a boor, but rooting for Florida? I promise to keep your comment private, but you mustn't do this too often.:2razz:

Sometimes you just have to take a stand and root against the greater "evil".

Florida, for sure, but the gators....ughhhh...well alright. I do have to say they landed a much better coach than we did.

CP

True. As Saban pointed out, after starting out with a 28 to 0 lead, the players let complacency set in. And by that time, Oklahoma had their game face on.

I don't expect OU to be nearly as good next season but we shall see. The Big 12 teams went 3 (Texas, OKST and Baylor) and 1 (OU) against SEC teams in the bowl games this season - not too shabby.

I think you are correct..But they surprised me this year ( pleasantly ),and quite frankly I had never heard of Kyler Murray b4 the season started, and have no clue as to how many are returning next year.

Yep, a former Aggie at that and back-up to Shake-n-Bake. Now going on to play baseball instead.

Great choice if one can make it. At least you will be able walk into retirement. I was sure Charlie Ward would be great in football, but that was only for me. Basketball for him was a much better choice.

In order to make it in baseball you have to be able to deal with losing quite a few games. Maybe he can grow up and adjust to that. ;)

5 million ( to start with ) should help with that pain of losing I would think. :)

Probably not. I don't see them landing a 3rd incredible quarterback in a row. And they certainly need to develop a defense.

So right! Whatever happened to defense wins games? Must not have made it to Oklahoma yet. I do shudder to think what they could have been with even a half-baked defense,

Seems like the Big-12 decided to go more towards the PAC- 10 style of play about 5 or so years ago.

I hope you are wrong about the recruiting, but I'm afraid you are right. Orlando is a great place to go to College. I do worry about another competitor for talent with my 'Noles.

It seems impossible the way the teams schedule today but the year before I went to William & Mary we actually beat Florida State
I think 10 to 0. We played 1A in those days when face masks only had one bar now we are 1AA or whatever the equivalent is in todays terms.
Florida State only really became big time when Steve Tensi started slinging the ball to Fred Biletnikoff in the mid 60's, that was some tandem.
I used to enjoy the Miami-Florida State rivalry from about 1986 on for about 20 years both teams were always in the top 5! Maybe the reason
they are not there anymore is the competition from UCF for top recruits after all i don't think UCF even played the sport with a !A schedule
till the mid 90's. They are recently really coming into there own!

My Lord! What a memory! I live in fear that I will soon be talking about FSU when it was great! We seem to be heading in that recall of heyday direction.
God Bless William and Mary, please remember to reply in kind when FSU greatness is but a memory.

When I was a (mediocre) wide receiver in high school, Fred Biletnikoff was my hero. I sprayed my entire jersey with "stickum" just as he did (before it was outlawed).
