Colin Kaepernick wins

He entered this world like so many of his color...one night stand father and uneducated mother....was adopted and raised in a loving white family.....oppressed?

He's a hypocrite. If he feels this way, he should leave the country and the success and riches that go with it.
There is no other country on earth where blacks do as well.

He has no trouble spending whitey’s money does he?

Some people are born bastards. Others like vols, just are.

Hey, nobody's going to shoot you like they would in glorious Cuba for leaving, so if things are so bad and "oppressive" here why on earth would you want to stay?

So if you ever don't like something about your government or country you should leave instead trying to fix it.

Seeing as how you also don't think our country is perfect, when do you pack your bags and head out, quitter? Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

If you have a million dollars to give away, I doubt he's very worried about getting up and going to work tomorrow. Read the article, he sounds like a good man.

https://www.sbnation.com/lookit/201...illion-dollar-pledge-charity-latest-donations

Donating to charity is always good. I applaud him for that. But, choosing to disrespect the flag of the nation that allowed you the means to make that kind of money is abhorrent.

And yes, he probably is losing some sleep over not being signed. The donations are to increase his appeal, but, so far, they're not working. I might give him a second chance -- looking at the charity as penance -- but no guarantee the NFL will.

Colin began his protest to call attention to police use of excessive force against black people.

This was his original statement:
"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000691077/article/colin-kaepernick-explains-why-he-sat-during-national-anthem

Given all the attention that the protest has gotten, Colin has achieved his goal of extending the conversation on the topic. You may not agree with his method, but would any other method have ultimately generated the attention that this has brought to the issue?

Seriously? It's almost been forgotten until Trump opened his mouth.

... and White Men Screw Little Boys ... but won't change the fact that Black People are done taking orders.

That is the lamest comeback ever.

The issue of white cops shooting black citizens who don't appear to present any threat, and then being no billed by a white DA and white grand jury, if that diminishes greatly the memory of this protest could fade. If it does not go away, it will keep this issue alive. As Kaepernick said, there are bodies lying in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.

The protest is already predominantly remembered as igniting a controversy regarding the lack of respect for the national anthem and the flag. Colin's original message has been lost, consumed by the national debate regarding the national anthem and the flag.

Furthermore, when this season began, those very few players kneeling/sitting during the national anthem and display of the flag received minimal to non-existent television news coverage. Few, if any, media outlets were discussing the act of players kneeling/sitting for the national anthem when the season began.

The BLM has preserved the national dialogue regarding police disproportionally using deadly force towards blacks, not Colin's. Yesterday, and today, Colin inspired a debate about the propriety of kneeling during the national anthem and display of the flag, which entirely obscured his social justice message.

[SUP]No one is talking about blacks laying in the streets, they're talking about that idiot disrespecting the flag and the country.

He lost, and has no job to show for it.

Has it occurred to you that perhaps CK was willing to sacrifice his financial and professional success in order to stand for something bigger than he is?

That perhaps he was willing to do the time because he was willing to do the crime?

Whatever, it isn't looking good for the NFL. And his message isn't taking.

That is rather debatable judging from the number of threads and posts here at DP

The message people are hearing from the players kneeling is, "we hate this country" not "we're fighting racism". It ain't working. BTW, where is BLM? Where are the BLM rallies at the football games?

The only ones he alienated are the racists

Thats a stupid post, bro.

are you saying that an 11% drop in ratings and the chorus of boos are all racist, hundreds of thousands of people, millions potentially, of all colors and creeds are racist because they think that one should respect the flag and country?

Since when is responding to percieved disrespect to veterans, the country, and the flag racist?

How is it racist?

Refusing to pay homage to the symbol of a state you believe to be abusing its power is utterly accurate and appropriate. Should he have givcen up up meat or some other totally unrelated protest?

How about they sit out a whole game?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and messages sent are frequently not the message received.

I never once have thought the message was "we hate this country". Not once.

The message I received is that the government of this country does not represent the people, and by its many actions is a criminal government, and we are dissenting to point this out.
