Colin Kaepernick files collusion grievance against NFL owners | NFL | Sporting News

According to ProFootballTalk, citing "source with knowledge of the situation," Kaepernick wants to blow up the league's collective bargaining agreement (CBA). If Kaepernick can prove collusion through the grievance, the CBA will be terminated.

Kaepernick's collusion grievance in part, alleges league owners blackballed him and were further coerced by President Donald Trump.

The NFL players’ union said Sunday it will support Kaepernick but will have no role in the grievance. The union didn’t learn of it until it was reported in the media Sunday.

He may go down being remembered as the guy who ended football.

I have some thoughts on this but I'm going to keep them to myself for now. I want to hear other people's reaction to this first.

He's become a hero to me. Did you see my thread titled "Let's Talk about Police Corruption and Abuse"? I posted numerous examples of police officers caught on tape lying. Sometimes it's 5 officers all lying about a suspect. In one video 4 officers we caught framing a suspect to cover up for a fellow officer.

Butt I guess you don't want to talk about police corruption. You want to pretend it doesn't exist. I guess you think ignoring government corruption makes you patriotic.

Have you ever actually listened to Colin Kaepernick? What does he say here that you disagree with?

I have to white out the rest. How can he be "the guy who ended football"?

"the guy who ended football" ?

Is his criticism so devastating that everyone will just stop playing or watching football?

I don't know much about law but I've been expecting this to happen sometime. I wonder if Trump could be a defendant.

I don't want to talk about it during football

If he destroys the CBA and creates a bunch of bad press for the NFL it may harm the sport like nobody has ever seen.

I don't see how, but who knows

It is not only that he would do this on almost certainly no evidence hoping to fish for evidence in Email and text messages of NFL leaders but that he chose to do this on Sunday that tells me that if he was blackballed it was the right move.

I have long said that it is clear that he does not care about the best interests of either the NFL nor the game, and this is more of that.

K reminds me a lot of Clinton Corp....it is always always always about him.

Poor widdle Colin.

It's TOTALLY not because you're a bottom-5 quarterback looking for a starting gig earning top-10 money.
It's TOTALLY not because your skills have already eroded, and you're not even 30 years old.
It's TOTALLY not because NFL teams are already worried about plummeting ratings, and you're about as toxic as WWI chlorine gas.

I very much would like to know what the financial arrangements are as it appears that the union is not paying for this.

Who is paying the freight?

Seems like he has nothing to lose. He wants more civil unrest he wants more attention and is trying to stay relevant cause he cant move on with his life. Such a sad person he really needs to get his priorities straight, and the media needs to stop using these devisive tatics

I'm curious to see how the owners respond. He is trying to blackmail them. This has the potential to be a PR nightmare with the fans if they give in and rehire the guy. If they don't or he won't drop the lawsuit and the NFL loses in court. The inmates will be running the asylum.

I read one article saying Baltimore took a knee before the anthem was played and got booed for it. This means there is potential for more fans to leave.

The attention was no longer on him. It switched to being a protest against Trump by the players. He had to get it back on him, so here he is. Football isn't paying the bills, guys gotta do something.

But if he ever had a chance of playing, it's gone now.

...

Anybody remember Curt Flood?

He lost his case, but is credited with starting free agency, which more than a few thought would end baseball.

A truly great player, I saw him play at Dodger Stadium when I was young. We were in right field, Bobby Tolan played in Right, and he made some great plays right in front of us, all I really remember.

Ya, he cant lead if he is not on the field....the dude miscalculated.

Time for plan B.

He's claiming he has a "right" to be hired - a "right" to make millions. That's like filing a collusion complaint against all women, if I can't get a date.

Those who buy tickets are the ones who ultimately decide whether you're worth watching or not. If you want to offend others by disrespecting their flag, then they'll decide if they want to keep watching you. That's what really determines your employability. You can be the best quarterback in the world, but if you're found to be a wife-beater or a murderer, then people may decide you're not worth watching, no matter how strong your athletic talent is.

Maybe because the thread isn't about police corruption?

I listened to him -- he's full of BS. At first, he didn't want to specify the exact reason for his behavior, but when the reporter pinned him down, he said that police were being given a "license to kill." Then he applied that racially.

That's hogwash. Black suspects are not being killed at a higher rate. In fact, a white suspect has a slightly higher chance of being shot during apprehension.

Kaepernick will likely never play again because he's trouble for the NFL and they have every right not to want a troublemaker in their midst.

Ray Lewis literally killed two people and is currently being discussed for a HOF nod. Adrian Peterson routinely beats his kid and still plays in the NFL.

But it's rather refreshing to see that someone who hates free speech and peaceful demonstration reveal they genuinely feel kneeling during the anthem is just as bad as literal murder.

It's the Left who hate Free Speech - to the point of having the state persecute you if you exercise speech they don't like.
Meanwhile, nobody who is criticizing Kapaernick is calling to have the state persecute him or throw him in jail. They're just saying that they have a right to enjoy the sport of football which they're paying for the privilege to enjoy, without having to endure disrespect to their national anthem.

You have a right to say "**** Trump!" all day long. What you don't have a right to do is demand that I pay you out of my wallet for doing so. Do it on your own dime.

If I want to pay to enjoy a spectator sport, then I'll decide whether or not I'm getting what I paid for. If some guy is interfering with my enjoyment of what I paid for, then I will vote with my wallet to get what I wanted to pay for.

We don't need Kraepernick to tell us why he won't stand for the national anthem. When you wear socks depicting cops as pigs, and shirts glorifying communist dictators, we can pretty much figure it out for ourselves. ;)
