Christ Is Risen!

After I began to post back and forth with him, I realized that he had been terribly hurt sometime in childhood. He's damaged and brokenhearted. Maybe that is where the anger comes from?

Thanks for explaining that.
I hope that eventually, he'll be able to let go of all that, and find his inner peace.

Lol, what's there to react about with a greetings that's obviously directed to believers?

Well, I can question the kind of reaction we get. That's the huge part of discussion here.....after we've gone past the greetings.
I can't help but notice the overboard reaction coming from some. It's consistent, too.
By the mention of even something simple as a greetings to fellow-believers, some posters easily go.....unhinged.
Why?
That's what's worth discussing.

Freely discussing debatable subject matter in a forum rife with skeptics. What more explanation is really needed? I might agree with your sense of "surprise" if skeptics freely entered the Theology sub-forum like a bull in a china shop, but I don't gravitate over there; have no need to.

Happy Easter...

I sure did. I laughed all day about Joey Biden running for office in 2020.
Can the lowly liberal/Demo be so lamed thinking he can beat our President ?
President Trump might as well stay in office and save time and money wasted by liberal/Demos.

One thing I learned long ago about presidential candidates, is to never underestimate them this far ahead of an election. History bears this out quite well.

I hope so too. Being able to let go is sometimes very hard, but I think in doing so, you do find that peace.

It's entertaining to see how Joey does. As a Easter treat it's predictable to see how far Joey throws in the towel. I imagine in September.

Then the greeting should have been delivered in the appropriate forum. And this greeting was not a general one to all believers in all religions, but to a particular segment of Christians, one which you don't belong to.

Whether I belong to the same denomination or not, is not the point. I can look past that, and just rejoice with him - it's the symbolism of the occasion which is important, not the date! Lol.
We share the same belief in its significance.

Whether it's in the right forum or not, is not the point, either!
For all we know, it got accidentally posted at the wrong section.

The point is: it's just a greeting, for crying out loud!

If someone can't even manage to look past that simple greeting (which is obviously directed at believers), without getting triggered - boy, it's that kind of reaction(s) that becomes the topic! And so, it became!
As simple as that!

Explain why there are two Easter Sundays. Are there two Christ zombies?

So, Calamity......want to create a new thread, and talk about your issue?

This thread is fine. He claimed his Easter was a week after yours. Is he wrong?

There is no right or wrong about that. I can rejoice the Resurrection everyday, or anytime I think
about it! How many times can someone rejoice and give thanks for that sacrifice?
Many times, as much as you want! Should there be a limit? Is there a quota? Who's counting?

So.....it's the date that bothers you! Why let small details trigger you?

Anyway - what is it to you who got it right or wrong - you don't believe, right?
It's only a date, for crying out loud!

I don't know what happened to you (but obviously, something did).....I hope you eventually get past it.
I know, it's easy to say for someone who's not in your shoes (and not knowing the details), but I mean well.

So, you admit the date of the resurrection is arbitrary; i.e. made up. So, what makes you think that the part about him being risen is not made up as well?

Where does it say that?

“For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds. Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.“ (Matthew 16: 27, 28)

“Behold, I have told you in advance. So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out, or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.“ (Matthew 24: 25-34)

“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send forth the angels, and will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven. Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place…“ (Mark 13:26-30)

“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. Then He told them a parable: Behold the fig tree and all the trees; as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place.“ (Luke 21:27-32)

In these passages Jesus is explicit about his return. He said that he would return riding the clouds with angels to judge the world and that with the sound of a trumpet he would send his angels to gather his chosen ones from the Earth. This would be no secret, invisible or “spiritual” event. Instead, the whole world would see him in the sky just the whole world sees the light of the sun. This was to happen some time during the generation of those to whom he was speaking. To make it clear to his listeners that this event would not be in the distant future, he told them that some of them who were there listening to him would still be alive to see it.

“But Jesus kept silent and the high priest said to Him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus said to him, “You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.“” (Matthew 26: 63, 64)

This passage is from the story of Jesus’ trial. Jesus tells the high priest that he would see him return riding on the clouds.

You are rejoicing about Christ but you have never read the Bible?

Christ Is Risen! Christos anesti! Happy Orthodox Easter to everyone! Let us rejoice! ;)

Happy Easter, friend...but maybe next time, if you want to avoid the trolls, drop this in the theology sub forum. They're not allowed to be meanies in there. :)

Being skeptical is not equivalent to trolling.

However, calling skeptics trolls could indeed be trolling. :2razz:

Please quote where I used the word troll.

I think you might be a troll, Troll. Quit trolling.

Pointing out Jesus's failed prophecy is trolling? Pointing out the unbelievable parts of the Christ myth is trolling? How does that work?

Meanies, lol. Asking awkward questions that believers do not dare to answer is not being mean.

That's exactly what a troll would say.

You may call it "making fun."
I see the anger. Angry sarcasm. I can even see some glimpses of pain.
He's not having fun!

And, there is more to it than just simple disbelief, either.
It's like he's trying too hard. About something.

Using you imagination again, huh?

Here is a thought for you, if the story were indeed true, why is it never celebrated on the same date each year? Always seems to rotate, perhaps because it is a made up date for the sake of a story.

Nah, man, Christians like a long weekend just like anyone else. Debunk debunked.
