China retaliates with tariffs on $75 billion of US goods

I am not "an US" ? If you mean we --- those people in this country that can read the writing on the wall and see Trump for what he is, then yes, we know what's coming, we have always known what's coming. We prayed it wouldn't but it is. You nor any other Trumper can put that genie back in the bottle now, it's too late.

"We, the people", elected Trump. You didn't... c'est la vie.

You can complain all you want. but you can't change facts. I encourage you to complain, in fact. I welcome your angry protests, and I will continue to protest against your voice; ie., first amendment rights.

Stop calling me a Trumper...I am an American citizen who without your blessing has the right to support a president you hate... I didn't even vote for him but I have every right to refute the insanity coming from the butt hurts and snowflakes, who haven't learned yet that they are not in control of the world. There are many like me, who because of the crybabies that are still protesting Trump's election, will vote in the next election for Trump just because of the non-stop whining...

God help us if your team is in charge. :lamo

I don't believe that you didn't vote for him. I think you did and by supporting this beast you're forgiving all the bad that he's done and is still doing. And, "my team" whoever you may think that is, could not possibly do a worst job than Trump has.

You don't like being called a "trumper" but you don't mind at all calling me a 'snowflake' or 'butt hurts or 'crybaby'. This gate swings both ways Trixare4kids

1) That's might be your perception, but historically you are wrong. Nobody broke Clinton's arm.
President Bill Clinton signed it into law on December 8, 1993. It entered into force on January 1, 1994.

2) If you think the Clintons were not in the pocket of corps. and the wealthy I've a nice bridge to sell you.
They have always done what was best for their bottom line.

Like bank deregulation, Clinton signed it but that does not change the fact that it is Republican policy that wrote those bills. That's what he gets for working with both sides and that will not be happening again. Republican policies suck big time. Lesson learned.

That team will probably cough up all intellectual property to China.
Feel proud yet? What about the people who have worked their entire lives to only find out that China has stolen their property?

Yeah, you keep hating on Trump for doing what is long overdue, fighting for the intellectual property rights of YOUR fellow Americans, "we the people."

I look forward to your rebuttal.

I don't care if you believe if I voted or not... Stop making everything about yourself, and for once, offer up an intellectually honest rebuttal.

you do understand it won't just be America to get it your navy in the pacific, the Indian ocean and your naval bases wiped out by Chinese over the horizon missile systems they have in 10s of thousands ... as i said start a shooting war with China the EU will not stand with you ... the only way the EU would be struck with nukes if we stood with you highly unlikely the only other option would America nuked us

When the nukes start flying they ALL start flying. The world gets glassed. Everybody dies. You probabley dont remember the heyday of the Cold War. I do. The reason was simple all it would take was one missile and everybody gets twitchy, and somebody twitches wrong, game over, we all lose, say hi to your maker.

There is one word to describe Trump's so called efforts on most anything. The word is failure and you celebrate it. What a loser.

U.S this month made two big weapons sales to Taiwan that has Xi Ping Pong and the Boyz in Beijing bouncing and swinging mad.

Earlier this month DepState announced approval of $2.2 bn package of 108 M1A2T Abrams tanks, 250 Stinger air defense missiles, mounted machine guns and other Army weapons.

Wednesday State Department announced another big package. This one is of $8 bn for 66 of the F-16 Viper Block 70/72, which includes many technologies not present in earlier models. Taiwan has been upgrading its fleet of the earlier model F-16 Fighting Falcon as it is.

Taiwan thanked the US for support on Tuesday, after the US State Department agreed to sell it $2.2 billion in armored weapons platforms. The decision to sell weapons to the Taiwan government comes as the US is clashing with Beijing over global trade and as Taiwan expresses its strong support of democracy demonstrations in Hong Kong. This year immigration to Taiwan from Hong Kong is up by 28%.

US F-16 Fighting Falcon Viper, 66 of which Taiwan has been eager to buy and which surely will be approved by Congress. Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen said the purchase would help the country develop a new air force and boost air defenses. "With strong self-defense capacity, Taiwan will certainly be more confident to ensure the cross-strait and regional peace and stability while facing security challenges," she said. National elections on Taiwan will be held in January with Tsai's pro independence Democratic Progressive Party expected to retain the presidency and control of the national assembly.

Taiwan is a huge beneficiary of the US trade war against China. Taiwan's increase in exports to the United States has added 2% to its GDP this year. This amount helps considerably to pay for the purchase of the weapons platforms from USA.

Thats what people dont understand China, is not the only game in town. Quite frankly we need to rethink the one China policy.

China has been stealing our intellectual property for decades, this isn't something new. But things were working for both China and the US, hasn't it? How did that change your life since you were born? It didn't. How will trade wars change your life? It will and it will make you just a bit poorer if not broke. Depends on how bad a recession will be IF there will be a recession.

I'll bet you had no idea that China owns $1.12 trillion dollars of US national debt, did you?

Or as we were taught in school, bend over grab your knees and kiss your ass goodbye..

I was told that, in that exact phrasing. :lamo

And China owns some debt so what? How are they going to collect if we tell them to pound sand?

So in other words, if Trump loses, the Democrat will owe his presidency to Mr. Xi.

Do you think Mr. Xi is interfering in the election?

If Trump loses, it will be on him because of the decisions he made during his term. That the CCP is pushing back against his policies doesn't equate to election meddling.

The problem is some like to fill in the blanks for others when they have no proven standing as honest posters.
If your team was fighting for the intellectual property of others, you'd be the first to wave the flag. :donkeyfla:donkeyfla:donkeyfla

You're not fooling me.

The bipartisan theory has been that as China grows wealthier, it will become more western, more Democratic ECT ect-- I am sure you have heard it.
The negatives of the theft of intellectual property is something that, in the scheme of things, supposedly pales in comparison to the benefits of a growing China.

But has that proven true?

How so?

Can we get you to put away the Nazi card?

I explained the parallels to you before in a previous post . In fairly simple terms too. So if you still can't grasp the basic concept I had alluded to, which is a basic component of fascism, I highly doubt that there's anything I can add to it that will get you to open up your eyes and/or mind.

People hearabouts seem pretty insistent otherwise.

Source: (CNN) China retaliates with tariffs on $75 billion of US goods

I'm not sure what more can be said here. After getting Trump to blink & back down last week during U.S. crashing stock & bond markets, it seems China is now shifting gears and firmly taking the offense in escalating the trade & currency wars.

U.S. manufacturing has contracted for the first time in a decade, and the heightening trade war will only exasperate the contraction. The American consumer is keeping the economy afloat, but a contracting manufacturing sector will eventually trickle-down to less consumer spending. Obviously the manufacturing sector isn't as large a component of the U.S. economy as in days gone by, but it still is an important part of our economy.

It's my opinion that Trump has lost his self-inflicted trade war, and needs to declare victory and move on to something else. That is, if he wants to have an economy commensurate with his gaining re-election.

Additional relevance: For what it's worth, I just checked and the Dow is down nearly 600 pts and the yield curve just inverted again ... oh well ...

China doesn't have elections. They know they can push hard on this. If Trump doesn't pull out, then the US economy might be shot to hell by the time he needs reelecting. Xi will still be in power no matter what (barring death).

All you have proven is that's all you got when rebutting most arguments on DP threads...

You don't have a good grasp on what I mean by China owning US debt. That debt is held by China in U.S. Treasury bills notes and bonds. China might opt to weaponize its holdings of more than $1.6 trillion worth of U.S. Treasuries in retaliation for the tariffs the Trump administration has imposed on Chinese imports. It has been referred to as the “nuclear option,” choosing to dump so large a pool of assets by China would likely destabilize world financial markets, drive interest rates higher and push tensions between the world’s two largest economies into uncharted territory.

The nuclear option would be withdrawing recognition of the PRC as the government of China and instead recognize ROC.

Oh good grief...
So let me get the gist of what you're saying?
The US should bow down to China like Obama did to Iran?

Please... you underestimate the strength, in every way, of the USA.
