Catastrophe of Biblical Magnitude

and they were right david

Nope. I've already given one that was wrong. Tyre was rebuilt, and the bible says it will not be.

Ezekiel 26:14
I will make you (Tyre) a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. You will never be rebuilt, for I the LORD have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.

You should read the prophecy again...;)

Though Tyre kept trying to make a comeback through the centuries, the city repeatedly fell before hostile forces, just as God’s prophet had foretold. (Ezek. 26:3) What is the present condition of Tyre, which was one of the great sea powers of the ancient world? Ruins and a small seaport, called Sour (Sur), mark the site. Nina Jidejian, in her book Tyre Through the Ages (1969), declares: “The port has become a haven today for fishing boats and a place for spreading nets,” exactly as prophesied through Ezekiel.—Ezek. 26:5, 14.

Come on, you're ignoring the most important part: You will never be rebuilt, for I the LORD have spoken

Has Tyre been rebuilt, yes or no?

And she wasn't, she was never again to be the great city she once was...at one time a manufacturer of metal objects, glassware and purple dyes, a trading center for overland caravans, a great import-export depot...her merchants and tradesmen even boasted of being princely and honorable...Isaiah 23:8...she became just as Ezekiel said..."you will become a place to spread fishnets"...

What was the population of tyre around the time mentioned Ezekiel?

I showed pictures. It has been rebuilt. Come on, seriously, God in his wrath says "You will never be rebuilt!" But really he meant..."well, your widgets won't be quite as good as they were before. And your trade might drop a bit."? Elvira, that is not what the wrathful god of the bible meant. You know that.

That is exactly what He meant, by what Ezekiel said..."you will become a place to spread fishnets"...that's all the place is today...

No. That's ridiculous. Yahweh said it would never be rebuilt. It has been rebuilt. I showed you pictures. You can go there. And there is almost certainly far more trade occurring there now than in biblical times. it's a big city with high rises and stuff. That means electricity, sewer, garbage, roads, police, fire, etc. etc.....all paid for by trade.

But I guess you're stuck, aren't you? You need to believe in inerancy of the bible, so no matter how ridiculous it is, you can't admit that obviously a wrathful god saying "You shall never be rebuilt!" does not mean "trade might drop for bit." If that's what it meant, I then that's what he would have said. And admit it, those would be some funny verses.

Ezekiel 26:14
"And I the Lord in my wrath say unto you: Your trade will dip at least four percent for two quarters, and at least two percent in two other quarters, although those quarters might not be consecutive. But this only works if calculations are done using the accrual method for a fiscal year end of April 30! Oh, right, and you can't include fishing or mining in those calculations either. For I the Lord have spoken!"

But you're arguing that this is what your God meant. Come on Elvira.

Yes, there are prophecies of both good and bad. But the bottom line is that prophecies are not predictions. Also, some prophecies has been interpreted to fit beliefs they were not even intended for. Christianity has shoehorned Jewish prophecies to fit their religion.

You're barking at the wrong tree. Who's saying prophecies are predictions?
I think that was Justhanging who brought up prophecies (he tends to hang himself with his own words)! Direct your lecture at him.
You two have a lot in common! :lamo

the end times is when people do not abide by the seven holy virtues

The seven virtues are supposed to oppose the 7 cardinal sins.
I'm sure the 7 cardinal sins -pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony and lust - are all being practiced now, more than ever!
Thanks to the feminist movement, political correctness and socialist mentality permeating all societies in the world.
In that case the virtues are not being adhered to.

When you say "people," do you mean everyone, or most? Do you mean nations?

I wouldn't know when exactly the end times will be coming. No forecast on that......

Elvira will do anything except admit to a mistake.

I understand now. If the inerrancy of the bible must be preserved above all else, you can't. She literally has no choice without shattering her entire belief system. I think it's particularly brave of her to be here listening to all the blasphemy.

She is only here to spread JW propaganda and insult.

There is no argument to be had...I've explained to you before, there are 2 Tyres...one on the mainland and one on the island...this is in regards to the island...learn some history of the matter before you speak...

Today, visitors who look for ruins from Phoenician Tyre will be disappointed for nothing at all remains from that time period. Everything from that era was removed and thrown into the sea to build Alexander’s causeway, leaving only “shining, bare rock” (Ezekiel 26:4). Impressive ruins from Roman period do exist and UNESCO has declared the area a World Heritage Site. Alexander’s causeway permanently altered the sea currents and many long centuries of sedimentation has turned the causeway into a sandy peninsula approximately 500 meters wide. In recent decades the area has been heavily built over. The area of the causeway now contains hundreds of apartment blocks and Lebanese Tyre has a population roughly estimated in 1993 to be 117,000 (although the real number is probably much higher). Tyre’s southern harbour gradually filled with silt and has long since disappeared but the northern, “Sidonian” harbour is still used and is filled with fishing boats and pleasure craft. Recent years have seen a marked increase in tourism and it is hoped that the newborn city’s white sandy beaches and rich historical heritage will make modern Tyre a tourist hotspot.

the seven deadly sins open the seven seals leading to the "end times" in luke, they are ALL connected

what was the point then? to be wrong david

The point is to speak about the current situation they observe and make comments on it indirectly by framing it as a prophecy. That way they make it appear as thou they have special insight from god instead of just flat out commenting on the current state and risk not getting through to anyone. It is a tactic employed to get their message heard and taken seriously.

Fulfilled Prophecy: Evidence for the Reliability of the Bible

Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)*

In approximately 700 BC, the prophet Micah named the tiny village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel's Messiah (Micah 5:2). The fulfillment of this prophecy in the birth of Christ is one of the most widely known and widely celebrated facts in history.

In the fifth century BC, a prophet named Zechariah declared that the Messiah would be betrayed for the price of a slave—thirty pieces of silver, according to Jewish law-and also that this money would be used to buy a burial ground for Jerusalem's poor foreigners (Zechariah 11:12-13). Bible writers and secular historians both record thirty pieces of silver as the sum paid to Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus, and they indicate that the money went to purchase a "potter's field," used—just as predicted—for the burial of poor aliens (Matthew 27:3-10).
