The largest foreign landlord groups in the US are the British, Germans, Dutch and French. Are you a member of the Anti-Chinese League, the Naturalists? One of those anti-papist guys who doesn't want anymore Irish or Italian immigrants? The First Nations want you evicted from their country.

There was no answer in this rambling post. How does letting Chinese oligarchs buy our property and rent it out help Americans?

Current home prices aren't some fixed law of nature. They're bid up by mortgage lenders and speculators. What do you think would happen to home prices if rents fell?

Do you consider spending 50% of your income on rent AFFORDABLE?

No, I value my quality of life more and work hard to not be in that position.

So some suggestions are: dont have 2 kids before you can afford a home, if that's what you want. Move somewhere cheaper. Develop job skills that will pay more. Graduate High School with an actual, practical plan. Etc. etc. etc.

You do know that a large percentage of wait staff are just passing through on their way to better paying jobs, right? That's why so many are young.

That's not the example I presented. Should the man who can't do anything else really have no other option than spending half of his income on rent? His existence should be no better than barely scraping by, at the precipice of bankruptcy? Utterly without hope if he's injured?

This is, as with everything else you say, false. Home prices are primarily moved by regular ole people buying houses, and the immutable laws of supply and demand.

I stopped reading this thread after post 13. The ignorance and whining was insulting my intelligence, even tho I'm not that smart. Stop crying and blaming others for your inadequacies.

I raised four with my wife. We both worked and provided well for our family. I now have 4 high achieving adult children, 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. I am one of those wealthy you envy and hate. Too bad I will not share what I sweated for with you, hey? With partners I own more than 400 commercial buildings, and continue to prosper from the rents. You will not get one thin dime of that money. Too bad for you. I own only one residential building, the one I have lived in for more than 40 years, where my wife and I raised our children. A rent stabilized building where very few of my tenants know I am the owner. The tenants are thrilled to live in this building, almost 100 years old, meticulously cared for, reasonable rents, not a single violation other than a broken exit sign light in the basement during those 36 years I have owned the building. You can't live here, I will not rent you a home here. Too bad. So it goes. No guaranteed life will be fair.

You have a choice, you can work 18 hour days like I did, and sweat, or continue to whine and cry. Your choice. I won't be bothered reading your silly rants any further. Not worth my time.

I personally don't, but some might. Depends on whether you want a larger home or a newer car.

But I see two possible solutions. Increase your income or reduce your living arrangements.

This is, as with everything else you say, false. Home prices are primarily moved by regular ole people buying houses, and the immutable laws of supply and demand.

Supply and demand can easily be shifted by taxing rents like ordinary income and gutting landlord tax deductions.
