As America slept last night, the Big Three in Journalism each took a bite out of the Trump Administration. And we are several large steps closer to the appointment of a Special Prosecutor to investigate all aspects of the charge involving the Trump campaign and the Russians.

The NY Times has an excellent article about the Obama administration efforts to save all the information should it be needed and wanted to make sure it was not conveniently destroyed by Trump.

WASHINGTON — In the Obama administration’s last days, some White House officials scrambled to spread information about Russian efforts to undermine the presidential election — and about possible contacts between associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump and Russians — across the government. Former American officials say they had two aims: to ensure that such meddling isn’t duplicated in future American or European elections, and to leave a clear trail of intelligence for government investigators. American allies, including the British and the Dutch, had provided information describing meetings in European cities between Russian officials — and others close to Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin — and associates of President-elect Trump, according to three former American officials who requested anonymity in discussing classified intelligence.

Separately, American intelligence agencies had intercepted communications of Russian officials, some of them within the Kremlin, discussing contacts with Trump associates. The disclosures about the contacts came as new questions were raised about Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s ties to the Russians. According to a former senior American official, he met with the Russian ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak, twice in the past year. The details of the meetings were not clear, but the contact appeared to contradict testimony Mr. Sessions provided Congress during his confirmation hearing in January when he said he “did not have communications with the Russians.”

The Washington Post has an excellent article connecting more dots in the growing scandal.

Then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessions’s confirmation hearing to become attorney general. One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senator’s office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race.

The previously undisclosed discussions could fuel new congressional calls for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russia’s alleged role in the 2016 presidential election. As attorney general, Sessions oversees the Justice Department and the FBI, which have been leading investigations into Russian meddling and any links to Trump’s associates. He has so far resisted calls to recuse himself.
And the Wall Street Journal tells us that Jeff Session did indeed meet with Russians - including once at the GOP Convention in Cleveland - despite straight up denials from Sessions before Congress and even late last night. And investigators have already been looking into that story.

This harkens back to the Watergate days when the Times and Post dueled on a daily basis with each other for scoops peeling back the Nixon onion and eventually it led to the downfall of Nixon and his administration.

This is it folks. Nobody on the morning shows even cares if Trump made a big speech this week to Congress. That is gone with the wind. Maybe Trumps best day as President is now irrelevant.

Hmm the Wall Street Journal.. looks like Rupert Murdoch has turned on his friend Donald.

It's pretty obvious that, at the very least, Sessions lied his ass off to Congress.

You can be sure it's all alternative facts and lies brought on by the lying, corrupt, liberal media in an all-out "war" to disparage this wonderful and glorious administration.

Any negative news about the Trump administration is fake news.

Remember that.

Is Sessions gonna have to resign, too?

Well, we can't very well have someone who deliberately lied (to both Congress and the American people), merely to protect himself, at the top of our federal justice system... and still maintain any credibility as a First World Nation.

He has undermined our rule of law.

Is Sessions gonna have to resign, too?
No he was specifically asked if he had any contact with Russia about the 2016 election.

not if he had contact with Russia in general. He answered no to the question which was the correct
answer.

Donald Trump is were he is because of Ignorance; his Ignorance, is supporters Useful Ignorance, or their Total Ignorance. But either way, his lies can't last forever. This guy will eventually make Richard Nixon look like a Republican Choir Boy.

If Donald thinks he'll be the first individual in History to keep his Taxes Secret ... then he don't know the power of "leaks".

... and the Big Fall will be soo sweat to watch.

so can the person that publishes it.

It makes you wonder how many members of Congress and the Senate meet or contacted the Russians ? I wonder what Obama had in mind when he was caught on that hot mic saying he could do more after the elections ? I wonder how many government officials got money donated to their so-called charity for favors ?

LOL

Only gone to the minions trained to respond to the dog whistles.

The rest of the country is looking forward to a bright future, while the dregs of society wallow in the failure of their globalist economic surrender.

Obama Administration scrambled in a last ditch attempt to harm Trump? Actually, you are right. There should be a special prosecutor to investigate that.

If not that, it's "gotcha" moments and innuendo.

IMO, Session said he didn't have contact with the Russians as part of the campaign but rather, in his role as a Senator. [which he can't comment on]

WATCH: Sessions Says He Didn’t Communicate With Russians | Heavy.com

Actually Sessions told Senator Franken he had NO contact with the Russians. Period.

"Sen Franken, I am not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign, and I did not have communications with the Russians, and I am unable to comment on it."

Why would a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee meet twice with the Russian ambassador including at a political convention after it had come out that the Russians were trying to influence the election?

Joe Scarborough just said on TV this morning that he was for 8 years on the House Armed Services committee and NEVER met with ambassadors as that was the province of the Foreign Relations committee. Senator Claire McCaskill said much the same thing.

Sessions so called explanation simply does not pass the smell test.

Well, it would seem the minions on the left can't hear anything, as you suggested.

Despite the laughable antics of the discredited NYT, WaPo, and apparently anxious to join the list, WSJ, the majority of people are looking forward, while the dwindling number living in the Progressive bubble can only respond to commands in hopes their rudderless lives can once again be controlled by the central office.

Sorry, IMO this is a tempest in a teapot.

From the NYT Article:

The disclosures about the contacts came as new questions were raised about Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s ties to the Russians. According to a former senior American official, he met with the Russian ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak, twice in the past year. The details of the meetings were not clear, but the contact appeared to contradict testimony Mr. Sessions provided Congress during his confirmation hearing in January when he said he “did not have communications with the Russians.”

Mr. Sessions said in a statement late Wednesday that he “never met with any Russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign.”

Meanwhile, no one should be surprised that political opponents in the Obama regime would be "rushing" to smear the incoming President.

From the Washington Post article:

When Sessions spoke with Kislyak in July and September, the senator was a senior member of the influential Armed Services Committee as well as one of Trump’s top foreign policy advisers.

In a statement issued Wednesday night, Session said he “never met with any Russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign. I have no idea what this allegation is about. It is false.”

Justice officials said Sessions met with Kislyak on Sept. 8 in his capacity as a member of the armed services panel rather than in his role as a Trump campaign surrogate.

Of course, WaPo, which has been strongly opposed to Trump from the beginning has slanted the information in the worst light possible.

Unfortunately I can't cite from the WSJ because I am not a subscriber and have no intention of paying to see what the entire article past the first five lines showing has to say.

I supposed it is more of the same. Information twisted into sensationalized innuendo couched as news.

Only those rabidly opposed to Trump deeply in the clutches of conspiracy theory ideology seeking any means to delegitimize this Presidency will take this information seriously.

I am personally saddened and appalled by the slanted propaganda of all three news organizations...once pillars of honesty and solid news reporting.

I guess it is only natural in this new information age where they have to compete for advertising with every tom, dick and harry blogger of internet news site.

Regardless of the reasons, this is just another example of yellow journalism at work. :coffeepap:

The only ones deaf seem to be right winger apologists for Trump watching Fox & Friends since these stories are being heard loud and clear this morning........

What MAJORITY of people are you referring to?

Then why didn't he just say that? Instead he said this:

Asked Jan. 10 by Sen. Al Franken, D-Minnesota, what he would do if he learned that "anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign," Sessions replied: "I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign, and I did not have communications with the Russians, and I'm unable to comment on it."

Sessions Met With Russian Ambassador but Didn't Mislead Senate: Spokeswoman

If it truly is the case that he was just referring to his role as a Senator (which may very well be the case), then he should have cleared that up in front of the Senate, so something like this wouldn't have happened.
