Broward County votes tossed out

It may have been intentional. But if it was intentional I would have thought they would have missed the deadline by more than 2 minutes.

Scott is onto the "willing to say anything" at this point stage. Has been there for a good bit of time nose firmly stuck up Donald's butt end.

This is a State problem. The State has had GOP administrations for 8 years. They have had election problems for at least 12 years regardless of admin. Time to clean it up down there.

Neither Scott nor Nelson have much standing in my book..... Idiots looking idiotic.
Brenda Snipes is incompetent she is a Democrat she gets reelected despite her long history of incompetence. Its not the Republicans fault.

Most European countries count ballots in a matter of hours and considerably more ballots... all it requires is manpower.

Really...she is accused of commingling votes that arrived late with votes that hit the deadline. What ungodly State of Florida mishmash of Election Laws allows any County Election official to even have access to votes that arrive late? Answer: Florida's!

Why, because unlike Oregon which has uses one date for all mail-in ballots, be they absentee or anything else, Florida has this mishmash of stacked dates and tiered relevance that actually allows acceptance of certain ballots while denying acceptance of others all the way up to SURPRISE SURPRISE.....Nov 16th for a Election that actually happened on Nov 6th! It is sheer unadulterated idiocy.

I simply do not think Florida wants an Election process that can't be manipulated. It is a mess down there and the dates of mail-in acceptance are only one aspect. Had they one date for mail-in acceptance as does Oregon, they could have one State official at every County counting center rerouting late arriving ballots to a State controlled storage facility where they could be stored by County until all the counting was over. No County Election Official anywhere would even have access to them.

It works for 65 of 67 counties.

It works for 65 of 67 counties.

It works for nobody accept travel agents booking tickets to Florida every 2 years! Again, the date for Mail-in acceptance is only one of the laughable elements of Florida Election Law.

I should point out that 6.5m of Florida's 13.3M Registered voters live in the 4 largest counties in the state. Broward, Hillsborough, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach. All but Miami-Dade were unable to submit their machine recounts by the deadline. I have not heard of any issues with Miami-Dade this time around. But of course Miami-Dade will live in infamy forever.

Again, this is a State of Florida problem and the way they handle their mail-in vote, the design of their ballots is only two of the many problems with Florida State Election Law. It is a system fraught with potential manipulation and maybe even actual manipulation.

Republicans need to take to the streets and chase every voting official out of every public place!

What goes around comes around.

Which would solve nothing!

Looks like DeSantis will be governor as Gillium only gained one vote in the recount yet refuses to concede. But it looks like the race for Senate will go to a hand count.

https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/politics/os-ne-florida-vote-recount-deadline-20181115-story.html

It seems odd that DeSantis in the recount left Gillum with just one extra vote but they found thousands of thousands of new votes for Nelson? Really?

Anyway the last hand recount during Bush and Gore was a spectacle. That famous picture of that dude using a magnifying glass trying to determine voter intent, hubby served in the Navy. He LOL'd when he showed up on the news. He was a judge in Florida at the time but hubby said he was a real puss in the Navy. Not someone you would want to be teamed with in critical situations.

Actually they were doing the machine recount in broward and Scott had a net gain of 779 votes there.
that would not be counted because they were 2 minutes late.

i think there is some foul play going on there.
the guy was like i had issues uploading to the election site i didn't what to do WTF.

now the hand recount is even worse. they have 2 days to count the over under ballots and
frankly this circus show needs to stop.

The judge should just rule that these counties are not in compliance with state election laws and that
their counts during the election will stand as the only valid votes.

Yes I heard that Scott had several hundred vote gain in Broward this morning and people are suspicious that the results were called in late on purpose so the gains would not benefit Scott.
And yes I agree, this has been one big circus.

no it is not the state it is how broward designed their ballot.
Main in votes are not difficult. I did mail in voting it was quite easy.

I filled it out and mailed it back like 2 days later. It was received and counted in plenty of time.
If you go to vote in person they hand you a scan tron sheet you fill out the bubble and put it through the machine.

There is little in the way of manipulation unless you are a heavy democratic area that saw the republican get
a net gain of 779 votes and ol you were 2 minutes late.

https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local...Recount-Results-2-Minutes-Late-500637162.html

there was a huge loss of votes which gave both Ron Desantis and Rick Scott big gains in the vote totals.
how they screwed that up is beyond me.

The fact is that broward is a dump and the election officials should be fired and competent people put in place.

actually it is worse than that. there was a loss of votes, but Nelson lost way more votes than scott did hence the gain.
this whole thing is becoming a circus and the judge should stop it.

why? because there are going to be even more issues with the manual recounts and more lawsuits.

The Gov race is over at this point though, but Gillum refuses to concede.

if you lose you lose put on your big boy pants give congrats to the other guy and go home.

Poor Florida, are they ever going to figure this out?

I filled in an absentee ballot due to the fact that my military service does not allow me to live within my voting district. I live in Broward County and my vote will not be counted because it could possibly hurt Republicans. If there was ever a time for mass gatherings, this would be it.

wow dishonesty is dishonesty.
blame your democrat election person.

She is the one that didn't get the votes in on time.
it has nothing to do with republicans and by the way.

the official machine recount helped republicans not hurt them.

so them not getting tallied actually hurt republicans.
you don't know what you are talking about.

The Mail-in vote in Florida would be no harder for the voter if there was simply one date of relevance for acceptance of votes and it would be far easier to process and far less vulnerable to manipulation with one date of acceptance. Mail-in voting is a convenience to the voter. Most generations of Americans at least and at least my generation is used to giving something up for convenience. in this case it would be: Meet the single date of acceptance or your vote does not get counted....simple. Have we grown so spoiled rotten that we just can't do anything anymore? Can't even deal with the concept of convenience being a benefit that you trade on to get?

"Florida has rules for ballot layout required under its election law. In the law’s sample layout, the instructions are short and take up only a small part of the left column (less than two inches). But in Broward County, the instructions are longer and are repeated in three languages, filling most of the column."

It is the State's Ballot design Instruction and even the State's Ballot sample that allows the Instructions to simply sit in the same vertical column with Candidates....just dumb! Broward is simply conforming to the stipulations of Florida Election Law with regard to Ballot.

Florida is far behind the times in its Election Law including its notions about instructions, where they should be, how they should appear, probably because they need new vote tabulating machines. Again, Election Law is State Law. Its the State's responsibility to create an overarching system that speaks to the needs of its Counties and its the Counties that must implement it. If it is missing half of the voters in its State for one reason or another, that is a problem and its a State problem.

Florida: Where both democracy and common sense go to die.

Who'd a thought that the hanging chad incident would be the highlight of Florida elections.

That is what we have. From the FL elections website.
However, the ballot must still be received by the Supervisor of Elections no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day if the voted ballot is to count. Exceptions exist for overseas military and civilian voters.

any votes received after that are invalid. unless they are military ballots.

Again we see that is broward that has the issue not the state. my county doesn't have an issue and neither do the other counties in FL.
1 county having issues with their ballot layout =/= state has issues.

Again 1 county that can't get their act together is not a state issue.

And there is one of Florida's problems right there in bold, a problem I have already explained ad nauseam and presented a solution for...the same solution Oregon has.

Not really because it takes more time to ship the ballots there and get them back.
I have no issues with delays for military voters why do you have a problem with it?

Yes really...Mail-in is a convenience. You concede something for convenience...you the recipient of the convenience. Get your mail-in mailed in time to meet a single state deadline. That is what Oregon does. I don't care if its coming from Mars.

I have a problem with it because it gives County Election Officials access to ballots that have been received late by category. Why? Because they are expecting other ballots that will not be late to a different drop dead date. Have one drop dead date. Its either there or its not.

They allow it because incompetent officials like Snipes cannot get the ballots delivered to servicemen on time so they give them ten more days.
