Except that allowing gay scout masters and staff had nothing to do with the law suits. The vast majority of the suits are from decades ago. A lot of this if from states loosening the statute of limitation on these types of offenses.

I disagree, and no I'm not Mormon. If anything the continued sponsorship by local Mormon church wards allowed BSA to exist in many cities after many other church denominations, and school districts stopped allowing BSA to use their facilities for meetings and such. Membership was already dropping off in American as Generation X fathers started having sons which were more into soy lattes and video games than into hiking, fishing, and camping. In the '50s and '60s most boys still had fathers who taught them how to hunt, use a chainsaw, and change the oil in their own cars. Newer generations of boys are better served joining the girl scouts and baking cookies. Can't blame the Mormon church on that.... and I ain't any particular fan of the Mormon religion. But they do have more traditional values than much of the culture today-- so I'll give them that.

I'm really glad you started this thread. Seriously. The fact is, "out and proud" gay folks are the least likely to molest children. The ones you have to watch out for are the outwardly macho, closeted married dudes who were likely abused themselves as children. You really think the millions of molestation victims in the Catholic Church is due to the Church allowing "out" homosexuals into the priesthood? No, these are deeply troubled, deeply repressed, individuals who cause great damage both to themselves and those around them.

You really need to do some self-examination to get some insight into why you're so anti-gay my friend. It would really be worth your talking with a mental health professional about. I'm not joking!

they're not suing the boy scouts over child molestation there is suing the boy scouts over covering it up.

If someone has to be gay in order to molest a child of the same sex which isn't the case, they clearly not only allowed these particular gay people in they provided them with victims promoted it and help them get away with it so they should be sued.

All the while people saying openly gay men couldn't be part of boy scouts and the fear was because of molestation and that's not who you should be afraid of.

No there in regard to the BSA covering it up. Between the time. Of 1965 and the late 80s. They're filing for bankruptcy to get out of the lawsuits that will come after the 80s.

The BSA would not be responsible for a child molester in their presents if they didn't try to cover it up like so many churches do, and other youth groups.

I want to see was in 2015 with the Mormon Church started backing out of it. but the Mormon church does have a problem with covering up child molestation.

The lawsuits have to do with BSA covering up the child molestation.

Boy Scouts of America sex abuse cases - Wikipedia

Much of the sex abuse that is leading to the bankruptcy is because of things that happened decades ago.

They changed the laws with regards with how long after crime was committed that you can file a lawsuit. Probably because the perversion files came to light. BSA perversion files date back to 1965. They don't begin in 2015.

ugly 2015 seems to be when the Mormon Church exited the BSA. And they are notorious for covering up sex abuse.

This is kind of a primitive mindset people have. The idea that only gay men would molest boys.

it's like the idea that if you eat broccoli one time in your life that means you're vegan no matter how many steaks you eat.

It's kind of similar to the one drop rule.

What I am pointing out is that declaring they were allowing gay scout masters destroyed the BSA. It costs 400,000 boys via the Mormons and who knows how many parents didn't want their kid going over the home or on a camp out with a gay scout leader - not knowing if he was or not. It is only recently that lawyers started advertising on TV for victims.

The question I'm wondering is do they really have evidence that the Boy Scouts Of American was instruction scout masters to sexually abuse and assault the boys? Can you link to any proof of that? It's not really a cover up since it has been reported in newspapers for a very long time.

I'm sorry you have made an error. What caused the boy scouts to go into bankruptcy was decades of cover-ups. Long before anything involving homosexuals was even heard of.

it was never my claim that the BSA instructed to abuse children. So why would I present evidence of something I never claimed?

How many of those charges happened before 2015?

Sexual orientation had nothing to do with sexual charges.
