Man this whole thing is so stupid.
Yeppers. Agreed!
Man this whole thing is so stupid.
I still support donating cans of creamed corn. It's gross.
What about cream corn from the socket of Davis?
sacrilege!
Never bought UA — Never will
I haven't read all the countless posts on this subject. But, has anyone mentioned that it was an army vet that originally suggested the kneeling idea to Kaepernick? (https://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/05/nfl-49ers-colin-kaepernick-national-anthem-protest-nate-boyer)
Yeah, Kaepernick would actually rather sit on his ass.
Why are some people so intent on everyone worshipping a piece of cloth? Ridiculous.
You ever bleed for it?
Have a family member bleed for it?
Maybe that would change your perspective....maybe not
For some people that piece of cloth as you put it, has a lot of meaning and importance
To you, maybe it means nothing
Symbolic worship is how people get sucked into nationalism.
I served. And I would've served my country no matter what was being flown up a flag pole.
Goody for you....
You are an exception
I dare you to go to Arlington on any day of the week and ask 100 people what that piece of cloth means to them, or their family
Or ask the guys who volunteer to be in the ceremonial guard protecting the tomb of the unknown
Or the majority of those who have served....in our all volunteer force for the last 40 years or so
Good to know you would have served under just any old flag....maybe the German nationalist party from the 30’s would serve you well...since for you it doesn’t matter at all
For me, old glory is the only flag I will serve or salute
But I guess, to each their own
I fought for your right to burn and spit on my flag....
Goody for you....

See, that kind of patriotism is impossible for me and many others to understand.
Thousands of Canadians served with the US military in Vietnam. Would you say they were seriously lacking in patriotism, maybe traitorous?
They should be patriotic to their flag, and their country
Pretty sure their battalions carried a maple leaf flag, not old glory over there
What is so hard to understand about that?

*gasp* An Army vet who remembers what he fought for?
I might have mentioned it about five hundred times, falls on deaf ears.

No, there were no Canadian forces in that war. I'm talking about guys who enlisted in American forces. The brother of a friend I had in school served with the Marines in Vietnam, and there were tens of thousands more. This report says 30,000 Canadians enlisted in the American military during that war.

Not sure how many draft dodgers came to Canada, but maybe they were all repaced by Canadians.
Point is, are Canadians who fight with American armed forces under the American flag lacking patriotism, maybe traitorous?
