Re: "Billinaires shouldn't exist." Do you agree with Bernie?

If it was within my capability to become a billionaire, I would like to think I would have the freedom to do so as long as I did not color outside the lines. I applaud success as long it is acquired by hard work and fair play.

America is supposed to be the land of the free and the home of the brave and the sky should be the limit if we truly want the freedom to achieve our best in life in as much as we are capable to do so.

But, the current method of operation to become rich, off the backs of a working class that are really no more than modern day slaves with benefits, should be looked in to. The numbers are way off the chart.

I say we have MORE billionaires. But, not until our nation's babies are fed, veterans are cared for, the elderly is secure, schools are funded, potholes (ie: national infrastructure) is sufficient and all sick people can be treated.

I am for the kind of "Democratic Socialism" that raises our police departments, fire departments, healthcare, military, transportation, education, strengthens our elderly, (ie: Social Security, Medicare, etc.) I would like to think that most everyone would agree with that.

If there is anything in the so called, "Democratic Socialism" that prevents a person from playing fair and being all they can be, by creating ceilings to their successes, I would stand firmly against that. If you take away a man's rewards, you take away the motivation to achieve higher heights. But there has to be a better way so as to allow more to drink from the well. The numbers don't lie. Greed is consuming us. It's worth of addressing.

The Comrade Sanders response is always the same. Demonize those that create jobs and are successful. Ignore the facts. Try this.

Rather than spending the last 4 decades demonizing the wealthy, why havent the Bernie Sanders of the world been building competing and successful socialist business in the US? Why havent the Tom Steirs who claim to be benevolent and the Bill Gates and the George Soros's been building the businesses with the types of "workers of the world' models and pay scales they preach about rather tan constantly piss themselves and bitch and whi9ne and cry and moan about people that have built successful businesses...businesses which BTW do NOT get successful by paying minimum wage.

You all know the answer.

Why don't employee owned companies become the biggest companies in the USA? That is a pure model of socialism at a business level, isn't it? If it is so much more efficient, why don't they totally dominate the market place?

(Let's pretend everything is spelled correctly in the title.)

I couldn't get the video going

in any case, he said in '74 that Millionaires should not exist, not billionaires.. Did he say it differently of late?

Thanksgiving dinner must be fun with your family.

Tell you the truth I think you are full of S***.

I am full of s*** as I am insulting my own family members? Lol not all of my family but some of the nasty rich ones.? Lol ok

The point was actually that nobody deserves that much money... nobody deserves all of those perks... nobody deserves Country Club memberships... yacht club memberships... whether it's my family or Bill Gates or anybody the idea that some of these people get all of that while tons of people are living in poverty is disgusting.

Re: "Billinaires shouldn't exist." Do you agree with Bernie?

Also I dated supermodels, but they all lived in Canada, so, you wouldn't know them.

Yea, I totally agree. I want to start a successful business, work hard, make a ton of money and give it to the government so they can piss it away to someone that elects to sit on their ass.

Now that is a typical republican talking point. They always point to the poor welfare recipients. The government takes care of them. Always has at least in my lifetime. Even republicans don't cut too deeply into welfare.

The people that got screwed by reagan and trickle down and republican policies since were the middle/working class. The backbone of America. Want to see GDP growth get more money in their hands. They are the worlds greatest consumer market.

As most, (or perhaps some when it comes to this site) know you can produce a chart that is true but is distorts to prove whatever point you want to make.

As an example with your chart regarding marginal tax rates. While I agree that the Federal rate could be higher, it does not take into account that costs and taxes were pushed to the state level decades ago. In addition lets remember that the taxes on social security and Medicare have been raised along with with level. Perhaps more income should be taxed but to show no change is distortive.

Loopholes in the tax code are produced and not fixed on a bi-partisan basis to bring back the bacon to their wealthy donors.

Many would agree that trade deals with China and NAFTA is what broke the backs of middle class and private industry unions, not tax cuts.

I'm all for more thinking and less hackery when it comes to "debates" on this site.

What a silly position. Who are you to dictate what others ‘deserve’? Heck, your standard of living should bring you SHAME when you consider people living on the streets or living in jungles with no clean water. Hell...I’m another thread you bragged about the LUXURY of taking students BOWLING as a reward. Rewarding kids when some children have to serve as child soldiers...SHAME!!!! It’s all a matter of perspective. If someone EARNS their wealth what they ‘deserve’ is entirely their business.

What makes you entitled to someone else's hard earned money?

The point is that everybody in the business making it successful should be earning closer to the same wage... the government also needs to be changed... no lobbying, term limits, etc. But you can make idiotic snarky comments if you like.

That argument would work against me except I am middle class... we are talking about the rich. BILLIONAIRES.

A billionaire can do without 900 million dollars, spreading it around, and still have 100 million dollars.

I give 50 bucks to the handicapped charity kid at the grocery store and that is all I can spare.

... yeah. Bowling. Their parents paid for them.. not me, not the school.

The reward was not the bowling... but the two periods off from school.

I didn't say anything about taking people's money... get your argument in order next time instead of sounding silly.

You are filthy rich compared to many in the world. You could spare more if you werent so greedy and selfish. You sound just like Bernie Sanders. "Dont mock my millions and my 3 homes! We are talking about BILLIONAIRES here!!!!"

That is why I donate money... but you are ignoring the actual argument. I am in the lower middle... the middle of that see-saw. The one keeping the thing from balance are the filthy rich. Keep ignoring... keep supporting poverty.

I fully addressed that. What you claim as middle income is untold indescribable wealth to others.

Your positions are as laughable as all the commie socialist positions. You all bleat about the same thing, yet none of you ever have the stones to put your money where mouth is. None of you are out there modeling this wonderful socialist utopia you all bleat on about. You arent building successful business where you share the workers wealth and decision making. But here is the reality...the rich do not make you poor...or in your case lower middle income. You did that all by yourself. You picked your pathway...you picked your station in life. If every billionaire on the planet shut down their operations and quit working as soon as they hit 999 million, you wouldnt make a penny more. In fact then you would be double ****ed, because then you wouldnt have the uber wealthy to carry you through your life and make up YOUR fair share that you dont pay. And lets be clear...you dont pay...at least not in this country. The lower 50% doesnt pay a dime...in fact with the EIC they get free money. There isnt a person in the lower income brackets that pays enough in taxes to pay so much as the actual cost of educating their child for a year, or the paved roads they drive on or any of the social services they receive.

I actually wish the rich WOULD give you people everything you ask for for a couple of years. I wish they would close up shop, shut down all their business ventures, pull all their money out of the markets, not invest a penny. Just go on a prolonged vacation. Let you choke on your wishes.

 You are completely out of your depth here.

Not me, the legislature. They are delegate the social Power to Tax for the purposes enumerated in federal Constitution.

I say again, what makes you entitled to someone else's hard earned money? Who are you to determine how much money someone receives from their own business?

That’s typically what most people here say when they realize the arguments they are making are stupid beyond words.

What makes you entitled to someone else's hard earned money?

You have no logical argument to even conjure.

If people were paid fairly then it would not be their hard earned money... and "hard earned" is the entire point of contention in the first place, negating your argument. Without the MacDonald's employee's none of the executives make ****.

Not at all... you are simply making Red Herring's...

Every job isn't the same, you know that. Stop trying to argue from a futile standpoint. The "cook" of a McDonald's isn't the same as the owner of the entire brand.

and "hard earned" is the entire point of contention in the first place, negating your argument. Without the MacDonald's employee's none of the executives make ****.

What do you consider "hard earned"? Do you think being a human resources manager or a warden overseeing 2 to 4 prisons in a complex is easy? It takes critical thinking, job knowledge, and experience. These are not easy desk jobs as many like to assume.
